The Producers are the overarching antagonists of the Total Drama franchise.
They are the sadistic creators of the reality TV show Total Drama, and are the ones who set up the show's challenges, and use Chris McLean as the host of the show, with the assistance of Chef Hatchet. Though not appearing in any episodes (except for an implied appearance in Total Drama Action), they are the most influential to the plot of the series. Chris mentions multiple times in the series that the producers are more sadistic and cruel than him.
Their voice effects are provided by unknown voice actors.
History[]
Total Drama Island 2007[]
In the episode "Phobia Factor", the producers are mentioned by Bridgette after she hears an animal.
In the episode "X-Treme Torture", Chris McLean gives an idea to the producers about making a cannibalistic challenge for the competitors to compete in, though he was denied, much to his chagrin.
In the episode "No Pain, No Game", one of the producers calls Chris about Izzy wanting to give herself a dare.
In the episode "Camp Castaways", Duncan tells Gwen that the producers will most likely call a search party to help them when she fears that they will be stuck on the island.
Total Drama Action[]
In the episode "The Aftermath: I", the producers create the Aftermath Show for Geoff and Bridgette.
In the episode "3:10 to Crazytown", the producers call Chris, informing him that they will not be able to use guns for the challenge, so they instead use water guns to prevent major lawsuits.
In the episode "The Sand Witch Project", Chef Hatchet is in trouble with the producers for helping the Screaming Gaffers with their challenge thanks to his illegal alliance with DJ.
In the episode "Full Metal Drama", the producers call Chris to not use the parachutes in the plane, so Chris kicks them out. Luckily, there was no danger from jumping out of the plane since the plane was fake and there was a mattress a few feet down.
In the episode "Ocean's Eight - Or Nine", Courtney rejoins the cast after she sues the producers after wrongfully being eliminated in the previous season due to Harold rigging the votes.
In the episode "Dial M for Merger", Chris reveals that the producers have a liking for Courtney due to her ruthlessness. It is also implied that the person who struck Harold in the head with a baton is a producer, which would make it their first physical appearance.
In the season's finale "The Aftermath: IV", Chris states that the producers got enough money to create the third season, which also reduced the budget of the final episode of the current season.
Total Drama World Tour[]
In the episode "Chinese Fake-Out", Chris is called by the producers simultaneously due to the budget, causing Chris to eliminate both Blaineley and Courtney to save money(coupled with his hatred for the two).
Total Drama: Revenge of the Island[]
While not directly appearing or mentioned in the season, they are mentioned by Jo in her audition tape.
Total Drama All-Stars[]
In the premiere episode of the season "Heroes vs. Villains", Chef informs Chris that the producers are officially greenlighting a new season, hence why they are willing to bail him out from prison for dumping toxic waste on Camp Wawanakwa last season.
In the episode "Suckers Punched", the producer uses Sierra's footage of Gwen and Duncan to anger Courtney.
In the season finale "The Final Wreck-ening", the producers call Chris, informing him that a new season has been ordered.
Total Drama: Pahkitew Island[]
In the episode "Mo' Monkey, Mo' Problems", Topher steals Chris's phone and calls the producers and asks them if he can be the new host of Total Drama.
In the episode "Three Zones and A Baby", Topher is informed by a producer that he is the new host, and he announces this during the elimination. However, it is revealed that Chris was the one who called Topher, so the latter is eliminated.
Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race[]
In the pilot episode of the season "None Down, Eighteen to Go - Part 1", the producers inform Don that the race is not for death.
In the episode "Hello and Dubai", the producers inform Don concerning his question about how legal the challenge is, shocking him with their answer.
Total Drama Island 2023[]
In the premiere episode "Meet the Victims", though not mentioned per se, Chris heavily implies that they and him "didn't" know that Chase and Emma had nastily broken up by the time they auditoned for the show, but Chris' sinister smile suggests that they did, especially because the producers who approve the castings, did know about the break-up and selected Chase and Emma on purpose to create drama.
In the episode "Paddle Field Earth", Chris mentions that the producers have become concerned about the cast's welfare after the previous two challenges, so he decided to make a "nice and serene" challenge to calm them down by setting up, unsurprisingly, a dangerous race to Honey Mountain.
Total Drama Island 2024[]
In the episode "Taking It to the Rim Reaper", Chase mentions the producers as he walks the Dock of Shame due to his elimination, blaming the producers for his elimination while saying that it's a foolish decision as everyone watches the show thanks to him. He then assures in the confessional that if the producers beg him to return when the ratings quickly drop, he will scoff at them but immediately accept to be back.
Trivia[]
- In real life, Tom McGillis once said that his personal goal was to make Total Drama have at least ten seasons. Whether or not the producers are going to achieve that in-universe remains to be seen.
- As stated before, a producer is implied to have appeared in an episode, but this might also be an intern.
- The producers are some of the only Total Drama villains to not have had any comeuppance or defeat, unless being sued by Courtney counts.
- Although DJ made an audition to qualify for Total Drama Island (2007), his character biography states that DJ was invited to join the show the moment the producers saw him pushing a row of eighty shopping carts across his part time grocery job's parking lot.
