♫Mari-chan and I go halfsies on everything.♫
~ The Protagonist
♫You know, lately, Mari-chan hasn’t been playing with me.
So it’s really boring.
She said there was a boy she liked.
And she couldn’t play with me today too.
I’m lonely. I wonder where the boy lives? I really don’t like him
Mari-chan and I go halfsies on everything.
So if we split him between the two of us, we can play again, right? Right.♫
~ The Protagonist becoming jealous of Mari-Chan's boyfriend, while foreshadowing on what will happen to Mari-Chan's boyfriend..

The Protagonist (also known as Hatsune Miku) is the main character of the song "Hanbunko" (はんぶんこ。, also referred to as "50/50" by the author or "Halfsies" when translated in English), a song made by Rishuu.

The Protagonist is the obsessed friend who loves to hang out and share everything with Mari-chan. She is mainly voiced by Hatsune Miku herself.

Biography[]

The Protagonist loves everything that Mari-Chan likes because they share "halfsies" of everything she has with her.

However, things take a rather sudden dark turn in the middle of the song when it was mentioned that The Protagonist was ignored by her friends as Mari was hanging out with a boy and hasn't been playing with her. This makes The Protagonist quite upset, as she decides to find out where the boy lives to get her friend Mari back.

In the near end of the song, she comes to a decision that the only way to have her back is to cut the boy in half, so they can be able to "share" him by cutting the boy with a chainsaw, killing him in the process.

She then realizes that Mari was horrified instead of being happy, much to the Protagonist's confusion and obliviousness, as well as the teachers and her friends also being horrified as well.

The song ends with The Protagonist sing to herself with only line "go halfsies on everything".

Personality[]

The Protagonist is depicted to appear as an innocent and happy person who loves to hang out with Mari-chan. She would play at the playground with her, sharing candy and sand in the sandpit.

However, things get rather grim in the middle of the song, that she gets jealous whenever Mari is hanging out with someone else other than with her and tends to feel sad and lonely whenever she is not around. She also has an obsession with "sharing" things to the point that she is willing to cut a person in half, so she can share his other half with him, showing that she does take the moral of "sharing is caring" way too far.

Quotes[]

My hand got all red.
I like what Mari-chan likes, too. (Aaah)
Why is Mari-chan crying?
Teacher and our friends are crying, too.
It’s weird. It’s weird. It’s weird. It’s weird.
Is it because I’m stained all red?
~ The Protagonist being oblivious to the fact that she just murdered Mari-Chan's boyfriend.
