~ The Psycho in the mission Psycho Killer. |
The Psycho is a minor antagonist in the 2002 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, serving as the main antagonist of the missions "Psycho Killer" and "Publicity Tour".
He is an enigmatic British man who holds a vendetta against the 1980's rock band Love Fist. He claims that Love Fist ruined his life but doesn't provide any explanation regarding his hatred towards the rock band. He resolves to kill the band by any possible method.
He was voiced by Hunter Platin, who also voiced Phil Cassidy and Curly Bob in Grand Theft Auto III and Piggsy in Manhunt.
Attempted Murders[]
Public Shooting[]
The Psycho plans to assassinate Love Fist at one of their public signings. The band's manager, Kent Paul, is suspicious and sends Tommy Vercetti as a precaution. Tommy drives the band's limousine to Rock City which is where the public singing is held. The Psycho appears while dressed as a woman and he kills a security guard. He escapes in the Sentinel but is pursued by Tommy. He is chased and seemingly killed by Tommy.
Bombing[]
However, the Psycho didn't really die, and somehow managed to survive. He then placed a bomb inside Love Fist's limousine. It activates when Tommy drives the band to their publicity tour. A recorded message plays and says the bomb will detonate if the limo's speed is below 50 MPH. Tommy is forced to quickly drive throughout Vice City without stopping. Love Fist manages to defuse the bomb which is located in their drink cooler. When the bomb is defused, Tommy drives Love Fist to their gig.
Status[]
The Psycho is not seen or mentioned again. Whether or not he survived is a mystery. Its highly likely that he had remained into hiding since then.
Trivia[]
- The Psycho is one of the few Grand Theft Auto antagonists who did not get any comeuppance for his acts, being beaten by Donald Love who has committed worse acts than The Psycho, who had also gotten away with his crimes and are not seen again ever since. Auntie Poulet is also another one of the few Grand Theft Auto antagonists who did not get any comeuppance at all.
- However, in the beta version of GTA Vice City there was a mission where the player was supposed to kill The Psycho for good.
- It was never explained regarding his hatred for Love Fist, and his past background was never revealed.
- It's unclear as to how he managed to survive from being killed by Tommy Vercetti in the mission Psycho Killer. It might hint that he is immortal, which is unusual unlike other enemies in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, who are normally killed off and are not revived at all. It might also hint that he had secretly hired a hitman (who had also acted as his body double) and had him killed by Tommy in his stead while his real self had remained himself hidden.
