The Ruby Squad are minor antagonists in Steven Universe. They are a squad of five Rubies that were sent to Earth by Yellow Diamond to retrieve Jasper.
All of its members are voiced by Charlyne Yi.
History[]
The Ruby Squad was created likely by Yellow Diamond, and it is unknown how long they've existed.
In the episode "Barn Mates", their Roaming Eye ship lands down on Earth, only to have "Eyeball" peak out and give a haunting look to the Crystal Gems. The Ruby Squad demands to know where Jasper is. The Crystal Gems trick them into playing a game of baseball, with the Crystal Gem Ruby pretending to be part of the Ruby Squad. The Rubies believe her until Sapphire bats them out and jumps into Ruby's arms, forming Garnet, which reveals their true colors. Angry, the Rubies fuse into a Giant Ruby but are tricked again by the Crystal Gems into searching for Jasper on Neptune. Unaware of this second ruse, the Rubies then unfuse and leave Earth and the Crystal Gems alone.
In "Back to the Moon", the Ruby Squad returns to Earth and are held in bubbles by Lapis Lazuli while the Crystal Gems try to figure out why they're back. The Rubies explain that they believed them and went to Neptune, now demanding Jasper. Amethyst shapeshifts into Jasper, tricking them, and they agree to take "Jasper" back to Homeworld. However, when Amethyst stops shapeshifting, the Rubies fuse into Giant Ruby again, but Sardonyx defeats them and throws them into space.
