~ The monster, upong seeing the protagonist's covered up face. |
The Thing Emerging from the Closet is the main antagonist of the the Creepypasta It Has No Face.
It is some sort of humanoid creature that haunts the cabin that the story's unnamed protagonist rests in for the night to escape a harsh blizzard.
Biography[]
Past[]
Not much is known about The Monster, but what is known is that it haunts an old cabin in the woods and has haunted it for decades, if not centuries. The creature would often hunt down people and kill them by removing their facial features and internal organs all while they were still alive.
At some point in the past a young man dared too stay at the cabin due to the urban legends surrounding it. His friend Evan tried to talk him out of it telling him that “the dare was stupid” but he refused to be labeled as a wuss. That night he was found by the creature and dragged into the basement where he would be missing for several days. When police questioned Evan he told them about the cabin where upon investigation found his body sprawled out on the floor of the basement mutilated.
It Has No Face[]
Sometime later the protagonist is driving home to meet his family for the holidays but unfortunately he ran into a blizzard with the nearest town not being for miles away so to avoid dying from the cold in his car he decided to try and see if he could stop somewhere to sleep for the night, which is when he found the cabin. Upon entering the cabin he began looking at some old paintings on the walls with one in particular catching his eye depicting a family of four with all of their smoothed over except for the teenage girl. Soon after he found the bedroom and began settling down setting an alarm on his phone to wake him up and pulling his ski mask over his face before going to sleep.
A few hours later the protagonist was awoken by faint scratching on the door in the room before the creature opened the door and began approaching the bed with the protagonist laid frozen in the bed as the creature studied him confused on why he seemingly wasn’t afraid of it until it stumbled back startled saying “it has no face” due to the protagonist wearing his ski mask. The creature then began grasping at the protagonist’s face while the protagonist became terrified at the thought of off being killed by the creature and no one ever knowing what happened to him, but before the creature could touch him the protagonist’s alarm went off sending the creature into a frenzy. Sensing the opportunity the protagonist jumped out of the bed and began backing the creature up to the wall with his phone’s strobe light and some loud music, eventually the creature retreated back into the basement all while the creature chanted “no face” Immediately after that the protagonist ran out of the cabin and back into his car before speeding away.
Eventually the protagonist parked outside a grocery store and began hysterically crying/laughing about how he nearly died after which he entered the store spotting Evan working behind one of the registers. After getting what he needed he went to check out with Evan asking if something was wrong noticing that the protagonist looked upset when he came in. Feeling he had nothing left to lose the protagonist recounted his entire terrifying ordeal to which Evan was left shocked and pale expression on his face. The protagonist then turned around to see an elderly couple with the same exact expression on their faces who began recounting the old stories about the cabin and claiming that no one who has ever stayed in that cabin had ever been seen alive again. Evan then begins recounting the story of when his friend stayed in the cabin which causes him to break down crying and after wishing them well the protagonist left the store now more traumatized than when he came in.
After stopping at a motel the protagonist decided that from there onwards he would always wear his ski mask before going to bed. Years later the protagonist is now happily married and has also continued wearing his ski mask before bed, he also takes extra precautions such as not living in any houses with a basement and locking every door in his house before going to sleep. Despite all this the protagonist claims to sometimes hear a faint scratching in the middle of the night and hears the voice of the creature coming from the closet but this is implied to just be the protagonist’s paranoia.
Appearance[]
The Monster is described as an incredibly tall and skinny (possibly skeletal) humanoid with a long spindly neck and rotting flesh pulled tightly over its bones. It has no eyes in its head implying that its appearance may be similar to the way it mutilates its victims. It also has bony, sharp, claw-like fingers and crawls on all fours which may harken it back to the much older Creepypasta, The Rake.
Personality[]
The Monster is inquisitive and actively malevolent in nature. It possesses relatively high intelligence, being capable of human speech and complex surgical/torturing procedures. It is in addition easily frightened by what it perceives as having no face. It kills anyone, besides the protagonist, who stays in The Cabin.
Powers/Skills[]
Enhanced Strength
The Monster is presumably quite strong despite its bony appearance, given that according to Evan, it managed to drag his friend to its torture room and torturing and killing him.
Surgical Torturing Skills
The Monster has been pointed to as the culprit for a myriad of deaths relating to The Cabin, all mutilated in a surgical way, as well as keeping the prey alive through the whole process
Stealth
The Monster is very stealthy, given that it can hide in the closet for weeks, months, or years on end and make little to no noise until it decides to go after its prey.
Withstanding Cold Temperatures
The Monster has shown insane endurance to extremely cold temperatures as it could withstand the snowstorm which was beating on the protagonist's car from within The Cabin.
Weaknesses[]
Sonophobia
The Monster is deathly afraid of loud noises.
Photophobia
The Monster is presumably very afraid of bright lights as well.
Trivia[]
- A common theory surrounding the creature is that it may actually be the young teenage girl in the painting that the protagonist comes across, seeing how it appears to be afraid of the protagonist when it thinks that he doesn't have a face, much like the faceless figures found in the painting.
