The Underground are the main antagonists of the 2020 action-adventure superhero video game Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the second installment in Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man series.
They are a group of criminals who dreamed of becoming the city's next biggest crime lords. But when the Tinkerer offered them tons of powerful weapons, they joined her in her quest to take down Simon Krieger and Roxxon to avenge her father which put them into conflict with Miles Morales/Spider-Man as they caused havoc throughout the city.
History[]
Not much is known about The Underground's past. The most that is known is that they started off as a relatively small group of criminals who desired to become the next big criminal organization. At some point, they allied with Tombstone's gang to achieve these ends, but the alliance ended up falling apart when one of the Underground members killed a member of Tombstone's gang. The Underground were given their opportunity when the Devil's Breath crisis left a massive power vacuum which they could exploit to fulfil their long-standing dreams.
At some point, members of The Underground tried to rob Phin Mason's, who would later become The Tinkerer, shop but were easily taken down; Phin, sensing an opportunity, offered the gang a deal. She would provide them with all kinds of powerful weapons in exchange for their help in taking down Roxxon and Simon Krieger, as he was responsible for the murder of her brother. The Underground accepted with little hesitation; according to Phin, most of the Underground members didn't care at all about her goal, just the opportunity for more weapons and the chance to expand their power.
Eventually, Phin stops Roxxon but sacrifices herself to prevent her weapon from destroying the city. Afterwards, it is not fully known what happened to The Underground, but it is presumed that they went back to being a relatively small criminal organization without the weapons they were being provided with. Peter and Miles revealed that the Underground disbanded after Phin's death.
