~ The Undertaker's catchphrase.

The Undertaker is the tritagonist of the WWE franchise.

He is a professional wrestler in WWE. Like many wrestlers, he has been both a protagonist (face) and antagonist (heel) in the past, though most of the time he is an anti-hero.

Biography[]

The Undertaker was born on March 24, 1965 in the town of Death Valley. He grew up on a funeral parlor up on the hill where his father worked as a mortician.

His father hired Paul Bearer as an apprentice. At the age of six, Taker walked in on Bearer having intercourse with his mother causing her to get pregnant with his half brother, Kane who his father thought was his son.

Taker took a dislike to Kane who was an "angel" and taught him light matches and smoke cigarettes.

It was on May 19, 1977, when Taker burned down his family's funeral parlor to the ground which killed both his parents, he believed Kane died there as well but he survived.

It was at his early teens, he was taken by a cult of Druids in a temple. A robe wearing grim reapers that purged the earth and took the inhabitants's souls. They thought him how to take souls using the power of The Urn. It was there where he earned the monikers of "The Prince of Darkness" and "The Deadman".

He spent a year hunting for lost souls. He decided to try wrestling after watching a taping of WWF and him needing a way to test out his physical strength.

He started his career in the then-WWF in 1990 as a heel when he was a mystery partner brought in to fight in a Survivor Series match by Ted DiBiase Sr.

It was implied that the Undertaker was undead and possessed supernatural powers. A few months later he was given a manager, Paul Bearer. He was a heel for more than a year until his partner Jake the Snake attacked Miss Elizabeth. Undertaker stopped him, and when Jake asked who's side he was on, he replied: "Not Yours".

From then on, although he used heel-like tactics against his opponents he was a face. In 1998, The Undertaker turned heel again by reuniting with Paul Bearer to form the Ministry of Darkness, a cult. This was his second-longest streak as a villain. His Ministry of Darkness, after first trying to conquer the WWF, joined Vince McMahon's Corporation to become the Corporate Ministry.

This lasted until the end of 1999, and after a leave of absence, he returned with a biker gimmick, where he went back and forth from being a heel and a face. His return to the dark side came when his brother Kane buried him alive, and he returned from the dead at WrestleMania 20 in 2004. Though occasionally still committing villainous acts, he remained a face until 2017.

From 2018 and 2020, he appeared sporadically but leaned toward being a heel. He began another feud with Triple H. While Triple H used any means needed to win, he was very civil after the match but Taker & Kane still clobbered him and Shawn before taking their leave. It led to an official battle, Brothers of Destruction vs. DX with the latter victorious.

Taker later attacked AJ Styles which led to a feud between the two that became personal when AJ talked about his wife, Michele. As a result, Undertaker reemerged as Big Evil and eventually defeated Styles at WrestleMania 36, burying him alive and riding off on his motorcycle.

Undertaker returns as the main antagonist of the Netflix interactive special Escape the Undertaker. In this special, the New Day decides to go to the Undertaker's mansion in order to obtain his Urn and use it's power. The Undertaker, at first, decides not to let them in, but sensing their souls as good food for the urn, he opens the mansion doors and lets them in. He begins to toy around with the New Day through the use of his traps, and keeps eyes on them through his security cameras.

During the special's climax, the Undertaker appears in all of their visions of their greatest nightmares. He then faces off against the trio as they try to take his urn, with the Big E deciding to destroy the urn instead of taking it for it's power. With the urn destroyed, the Undertaker vanishes, leaving behind his hat. He later appears during the ending, congratulating the viewer for successfully escaping his mansion.
