It's a monster! *Laughter*
~ White Mask imitating a child’s voice after killing Arnold.

The White-Masked Thoughtform, commonly known as The White Mask, is the main antagonist of the analog horror series The Greylock Tapes. It is a malevolent and enigmatic entity, presumed to be a thoughtform – a being born from human consciousness and fear. The White Mask is infamous for its cruel behavior, voice mimicry, and implication in unnatural deaths, mutations, and mental deterioration of those who encounter it.

It is the impiled killer and archenemy of Tiffany Crisaldi.

Biography[]

On March 25th, 1987, the Entity was first seen by Paul Morelli's crew. At first, Paul suggested that it was some environmentalist and told his crew to continue their work. Later that night, Paul finally sighted the entity stalking around the tree line. On March 27th, 1987, The Entity was first captured on a camera that was installed around the Mount Greylock forest.

On April 8th, The Entity came to the bedroom of Arnold Rivers' house before killing him in the closet.

Personality[]

Not much is known about the White Mask's nature as it rarely appears and rather hides in the shadows most of the time. It is known that it stalks it's victims like in the case of Paul and his crew, probably one of it's hunting tactics. It does not intervene very often but there are exceptions such as breaking into Arnold Rivers' house and killing him. As the creature moves around his house looking for him, it imitates various voices and sounds, starting with laughter, then cries for help, birds chirping and police officers. When the creature finally kills Arnold, it imitates a child's voice saying "It's a monster!" and then laughter. This indicates that the creature itself is aware of its actions and takes sadistic pleasure from them. It uses it's supernatural abilities and hunting strategies, killing individuals for an as yet unknown purpose.

Appearance[]

The creature's distinguishing mark is its white mask which has two empty holes for eyes, nose, and mouth. The mask itself appears to be dirty and covered in cracks. It is also possible that it's mask is actually the creature's face.

The appearance of the White Mask's body itself is unknown as we have only seen it's head so far, but it is described as a "tall man". Judging by the size of it's head when it bursts into Arnold's closet and the heavy footsteps heard earlier, it is implied that the White Mask is a creature of enormous size.

Trivia[]

  • It is suggested that "White Mask" might have killed some children, police officers, and animals before, as in Old Odd Ends, we can hear it mimicking birds chirping, little girl's crying for help, a police officer's warning, and a little kid saying "It's a monster!" and then laughing.
  • This is the only Thoughtform that appears consistently in the series.
