The Witch is the main antagonist of the Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics' episode Hansel and Gretel. She is a demonic witch who eats children and the episode's version of the Witch from original fairy tale of the same name by the Brothers Grimm.
She was voiced by the late Miyoko Asō in Japanese and by Edie Mirman in English.
Biography[]
After Hansel and Gretel are left in the forest by their stepmother, they find a white bird and follow it to a gingerbread house. While eating the house, the Witch finds them and invites them in for food and lodging for the night. Hansel wakes up in the middle of the night and finds the Witch reading a spell book with an illustration of the Baphomet and thanking the white bird, which transforms into a demon and disappears. The Witch smells Hansel who runs to warn Gretel. Hansel and Gretel hit the Witch with a pillow and run on top of the gingerbread house. The Witch runs after them and flies to the roof of the house where Hansel grabs a strawberry to hit the Witch. The Witch turns the strawberry into a frog and the gingerbread house into a regular house which makes Hansel and Gretel fall off the roof. After putting a magic barricade and tying up Gretel and putting Hansel in a cage, she makes Gretel her slave. The Witch then brings various foods for Hansel to eat so that he can fatten up, as the Witch plans on eating him. She also routinely asks Hansel for him to stick out his finger but every time he sticks out a bone, making the Witch think it is finger and that he hasn't gained weight, as the Witch has poor eyesight. Hansel and Gretel attempt to saw through the bars of the cage which alert the Witch. Hansel covers up the noise saying his teeth grind. The Witch by accident feels Hansel's arm during a scuffle and decides he is ready to be cooked and eaten by her.
The Witch transforms into a demonic dog-like appearance and boils a cauldron of cooking oil while Hansel escapes from his cage and enters the house. Hansel and enters the house and threatens the Witch to come and get him, prompting the Witch to fly towards him and transform into a demon and accidentally flies into the oven. This consequently starts a fire which burns the house. The fire briefly turns into the Witch's face before disappearing and burning the house to the ground.
