Theo Silverton is a supporting antagonist in the British soap opera Coronation Street.

Theo was originally brought into the show as a closeted gay man who started an affair with Todd Grimshaw, until his wife Danielle discovered the relationship. Afterwards he learned to embrace his sexuality despite his wife and children having a difficult time coming to terms with it. However, it was later revealed that Theo had an even darker past as he had previously being a victim of conversion therapy that was led by Noah Hedley. Despite these problems his relationship was Todd seemed like a happy one until Theo began to display a more aggressive side to Todd which may have been partially influenced by self-hatred of his own sexuality. Despite Theo's controlling behavior becoming more apparent, the two left Todd's mother's home 11 Coronation Street to move in together at 15a Coronation Street.

He is portrayed by James Cartwright.

Biography[]

Theo grew up in a very conversative Christian environment and became a victim of conversion therapy that was lead by church clerk Noah Hedley. Despite this contributing to Theo marrying Danielle and fathering two children with her Miles and Millie, he was still using gay dating sites in secret.

Theo first meet Todd after one of his employees almost dropped a metal pole on Julie Carp, who unbeknownst to him was suffering from terminally ill cancer. He later came over to apologise for misunderstanding Julie who he assumed was exaggerating the shock. This lead to Julie attempting to match-make Theo and her half-sister's son Todd. Although Theo tried to turn Todd away he gave into his passions and started an affair with him. Danielle initially assumed he was having an affair with Sarah Platt but was later shocked and horrified to find out he was having an affair with another man. Theo then immediately rejected Todd and tried to recreate his family life with Danielle and the children.

However, eventually he accepted his love for Todd and later moved in with him. However, his family life remained complicated as his daughter Millie attempted to stage a fake pregnancy in an attempt to restore her family unit and break Theo and Todd up. However, Theo wasn't fooled and sent Millie back to her mother. Nevertheless. Todd assumed that him and Theo were finished and began getting close to James Bailey. Although, Theo forgave Todd, he threatened James to stay away from Todd.

There was further complications when Theo's conversion therapist arrived on the street and became hosting conversion therapy sessions. Todd attempted to make Noah leave but these attempts were only made worse these attempts failed and Todd was forced to take a lesson with Noah about restorative justice. It was after this session that Todd found out that Danielle was seeing Noah and acting like a father towards the children. Todd went to the bistro to interrupt a family lunch that Theo was having with his family that lead to Theo punching his son miles in the heat of the moment. Theo blamed Todd for the entire incident and made him sleep on the sofa telling him he'd leave him if he wouldn't.

Although Theo was struggling with suicidal thoughts and his family life was broken, he remained with Todd and the abuse would get worse. Theo would later try to alienate Todd from his long time friend Billy Mayhew, after Billy reported his son for hate speech due to him being brainwashed by Noah's homophobic rhetoric. After a rough mediation between Theo and his wife Danielle in which Noah was present who continuity made snide remarks about Theo, Theo went home and after finding out Todd had been drinking in the rovers with his friends (Billy in particular), he went on a tirade about how disgusting Todd was for eating junk food so often. He would then proceed to shove bits of kebab inside's Todd's mouth and told Todd he was leaving. Despite this shocking moment, Todd would forgive Theo after he claimed he was going to therapy.

Later the two would move out of 11 Coronation Street and into 15a Coronation Street, it was here Theo's malicious behavior became more evident. As Todd was often the scapegoat for Theo's problems. Although Theo later won custody rights to his children, neither of his children wanted to warm up to him again. Also Noah suddenly died, which devastated Theo. It was later revealed that Theo had been in affair with a man while married to Danielle and that he'd been psychologically abusive to him the same way he was starting to become with Todd. When Todd saw the two talking he asked Theo about it, who switched the subject to him apparently flirting with James. Later on Theo told Todd he was clubbing and vanished for a few days. During that time, he bribed Gary Windass's son by handing in his phone to The Cabin to worry Todd. Todd angrily confronted Theo over this when he appeared after saving Asha Alahan's life who had just attempted suicide, who people called Todd out for after Theo had been a "hero".

Theo's behavior would get worse after his jealously of Todd's friendship with Billy Mayhew got worse. He assumed the two had slept together, although in reality Todd was got drunk at Billy's flat and didn't want to turn to Theo in such a state. In "revenge", Theo slept with another man and displayed zero remorse for his actions, only feigning remorse when Todd tried to break off the relationship, although Todd later forgave him and told Theo he'd spend less time with Billy. Theo's abuse towards Todd would sink to a new low, after Todd accidentally scratched a car that Theo bought him. Theo would respond with violence mashing up dinner that Todd made him after finding out he tried to keep the damage to the car secret. Later when Todd tried to apologise, Theo responded by dumping practically a whole bottle of milk over Todd's head.
