The Thief is the overarching antagonist of the seventh book in Dav Pilkey's Dog Man book series, For Whom the Ball Rolls, and a minor antagonist of DreamWorks Animation's film adaptation of the series, Dog Man, both spin-offs to the Captain Underpants franchise.
He is a thief of an unknown origin who indirectly created Dog Man's fear of balls.

His clothing is one of the typical thief: a black eye mask with a white and black striped t-shirt. He also has a beard and a red nose.

He first appears having done something wrong, as the cops are seen chasing him. However, Chief, the lead of the department, runs out of energy and has Dog Man catch him. However, the thief throws a ball to Dog Man after getting caught in a dead end and Dog Man goes after it, letting the thief escape.
Movie[]
It is confirmed that the thief, or at least a thief, will appear in the film adaptation of the series. While not much of their role is known, it is known that they tried to rob Frank's Bank, yet was caught, defeated, and arrested by Dog Man.
