Villains Overview

The Thieves are recurring antagonists from the Spyro franchise.

They are mischievous creatures who frequently steal Dragon Eggs and other valuable items, prompting Spyro to chase them down and return the stolen property to its rightful owners.

History[]

Spyro the Dragon'[]

Making their debut appearance, the Thieves had stolen 12 Dragon Eggs, and Spyro chases them down to reclaim them. At least 5 eggs are needed to be saved from the Thieves to progress in-game.

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage![]

A number of Thieves appear in Sandy Oasis as enemies. One of the quests involves chasing down the Thieves who had stolen three lamps.

Spyro: Year of the Dragon[]

Some of the eggs stolen by Bianca end up in the Thieves' possession, once again necessitating Spyro to chase them down.

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly[]

In this game, the Thieves Den is introduced. The Thieves also act friendly for Spyro for the first time in the series, asking him to help them rid their den of Ripto's invading Rhynocs.

Spyro: Season of Ice[]

Some Thieves carry frozen fairies with them, and must be caught by Spyro to save them.

Spyro: Season of Flame[]

The Thieves are a part of minigame that requires Spyro to chase them down and retrieve whatever they've stolen.

Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs[]

In this game, some Thieves act as helpers, advising Spyro on how to break into Moneybags' vault, while others need to be chased down as part of a quest. The Thieves Guild, which is used to teach the younger generation to become good at thievery, is also introduced.

Spyro: A Hero's Tail[]

The Thieves a number of Dragon Eggs from Mrs. Shoutfire's nursery. Spyro can find these eggs and return them, as well as chase down Thieves that carry eggs that let the player unlock concept art when retrieved.

Behaviour[]

The Thieves enjoy stealing and looting anywhere they go, whether for benefit or for the thrill of it. They tend to taunt Spyro if he can't reach them. Despite always being foiled by Spyro, they aren't above working with him against a common enemy, and may even express genuine gratitude for his help.

Trivia[]

  • Thieves are among the most popular enemies from the Spyro franchise, although they have notably appeared in the original Spyro series games.
