| ~ Thorntooth's jealousy of the other Clans |
Thorntooth is a very minor villain in the Warriors series, being the protagonist of a short story within Secrets of the Clans titled How TigerClan Got Their Stripes. He was a warrior of the mythological TigerClan (not to be confused with the modern one) who was envious of the other two Clans for each having their own unique trait. In his envy, he began attacking the other two Clans, stealing their prey and kits. Eventually his wish to have something unique is granted, as after the other two Clans banished them to only walk in darkness for a moon, the tigers gained blacks stripes on their pelts.
Appearance[]
Thorntooth is a large male tiger. Before TigerClan's exile, he and his Clanmates were only orange with white underbellies, but after, they all have pure black stripes covering their bodies.
Biography[]
TigerClan was bitter that they had no defining features about them, as LionClan had golden manes while LeopardClan had their speed. The Clan started hunting at night, and during the day staying in the shadows.
One member of TigerClan by the name of Thorntooth was more bitter than the others, and in his jealousy begins attacking the other Clans at night, stealing their prey and kidnapping their kits. TigerClan's leader Shadestar knew what he was doing, but allowed him because she was consumed by envy as well.
One day, Thorntooth steals Petalkit, the daughter of LionClan's leader Goldenstar. Shadestar is enraged by this, telling Thorntooth that LionClan will slaughter all of TigerClan to get Petalkit back if they have to. Thorntooth retorts that they could fight them, but Shadestar refuses to let her Clan die for nothing, stating that they will give Goldenstar's daughter back right away.
Shadestar calls for a Gathering that night to give Petalkit back before LionClan can attack, and Thorntooth is exposed for what he's done. Goldenstar and LeopardClan's leader Swiftstar demand for him to be punished, and Thorntooth protests that his Clan has nothing special to set them apart. Goldenstar then demands that TigerClan spend the next moon in complete darkness, not letting the sunlight touch them nor speaking to the other Clans. He states that if Thorntooth's raids stop, they may come out of exile, and Shadestar agrees to this.
At the next Gathering, TigerClan returns, now with their pelts striped in black after so long spent in darkness. Thorntooth is pleased by this, and from then on, all members of TigerClan were born with black stripes as well.
