~ Thousand Sons battlecry. |
The Thousand Sons are major antagonists in Warhammer 40k, being one of the Traitor Legions and the devoted followers of the Chaos God Tzeentch. Originally the XVth Legion of the Imperium of Man, they are lead by their Primarch Magnus the Red and were the foremost potent Psykers and sorcerers of the Imperium. Magnus' ceaseless search for greater power and mastery over magics would ultimately cause his downfall, and despite his attempts at penance and redemption, he and his Legion would ultimately side with Horus during the Heresy. They are the archenemies of Leman Russ and his Space Wolves.
Attributes[]
The Thousand Sons are the most magically adept members of both the Imperium of Man and later the Chaos Space Marines. Masters of the power of The Warp and it's essence, they can unleash truly devastating psychic attacks that are as capable as any weapons of mass death. Followers of Tzeench the Lord of Change, they are prone to daemonic mutations with many serving to only empower them further, but the rate at which they are mutating is hazardous and something they are actively looking into. They are also exceptional at using guile and trickery on the battlefield, using it and their immense fonts of magic instead of relying more on physical power like all other Legions. Every single Thousand Son is capable of the magics of Chaos, and are the only Legion to boast such an extraordinary feat. Any Thousand Son that lacked psychic ability would be magically merged with their suits of power armor after the fall of their homeworld of Prospero, becoming the Rubric Marines.
