  • Hi! I just wanted to know how the reality alteration ability of Barbatos (DC) work exactly? Some people said he can alter reality but I can't find the comics where Barbatos alter reality…

I first thought that barbatos alter batman's story so that he become the bat bruce wayne saw through the window the night he chose to become batman and for the court of the owls become those who decide batman' course of life in order to prepare him to become the door for barbatos' return to earth prime.

But if his reality warping doesn't work like that, can you tell me how it work exactly?

    • From my understanding, when Barbatos was locked out of the multiverse all those years ago, he has unable to use his powers to return. It seemed he could still communicate with his followers, but I think that was more or less all he could do. The full details to how he was locked out is unknown, but however it was done, made it so he could not use powers to alter the course of Prime Earth's history himself. So he relayed instructions to the Court of Owls to ensure Batman would become his doorway back into the multiverse so he could use his powers within it to their full extent.

    • Okay but what about barbatos alter batman's origin so that barbatos become the bat bruce wayne saw through the window the night he chose to become batman. And barbatos bringing the stories that sould never be told of the lucien's library to reality.

    • I ask you because i don't know what barbatos can do with his reality warping powers.

    • That all said. Barbatos could still use his powers to their full extent and alter reality to great effect outside of the positive matter multiverse (like in the Dark Multiverse). It’s just that he needed help to gain entry into it again so he could use his full power within it. Until then, all he could do is contact his followers.

I think “the stories that should never be told” refer to the histories of the characters from the Dark Mutliverse. Not sure about the bat though.

I guess you can say his reality altering abilities could be quite vast. Although I’m not sure who much he uses them himself during the Dark Nights: Metal saga.

    • I have a last question is there any comics which Barbatos use his reality altering powers?

Yeah indeed, barbatos brigned them to life (Into the regular Multiverse). For the bat thing, barbatos was refered as the true father of batman and he was the bat bruce wayne saw through the window. He is responsible for batman's existence.

    • Barbatos helped instigate Batman's creation through sending instructions to his followers, who made sure that Bruce Wayne became the Batman they needed him to be. While it might be that Barbatos' forces weren’t responsible for every event in Bruce’s life that lead him to become the Dark Knight, they still had a hand in many of them which prepared Bruce into becoming the doorway that Barbatos needed to return to the Multiverse. Because of Barbatos' manipulations throughout history to make the Batman necessary for his return, he considers himself the true father of Batman.

    • sorry if I am bumping in but Barbatos' reality-alteration is basically "omnipotent":

      Barbatos lost 0001

of course we're talking about comics so he's probably on the level of someone like a Fifth-Dimensional Imp rather than God.. though that's still basically "all-powerful" to your average reader.

We know that. What we’re talk about at the moment is to what extent Barbatos could use his powers to effect the positive matter multiverse before and after he gain entry to it.

    • oh, he can only manipulate events in history outside his own world - I'd wager he's like Mephisto or Trigon.. can't do reality-warping outside his own realm.. but who knows? comics get real confusing.. like how Doctor Manhattan somehow went froma  guy who can manipulate atoms and whatnot to someone who is now stronger than Fifth-Dimensional Imps etc..

    • Yeah. That was the whole reason why he tried to drag the whole Multiverse down into the Dark Multiverse. It makes sense Barbatos would be stronger in his own realm. It’s the Dark Matter of his realm he wanted to infect the Multiverse with.

    • Oh okay i fist thought barbatos altered batman's story for his worshipers become those who decide batman's course of life when he first saw him at the dawn of man before barbatos was defeated and cast out of the earth by hawkman and hawkgirl with nth metal. Because in one of his dialogue, he said that he shapped batman and his bird (the court of the owls) and his bird (court of owls) shapped bruce's life, his familly and his city. In fact, i first though he has some fate//future/history/causality manipulation/alteration.
