Hey, Beholder are you sure it's necessary to permanently lock Walter White's page according to several other admins and crats you should only permanently lock a page if there is a very good reason too? It's up to you since you are the admin but I just wanted to ask.
People are too facinated by the chatacter to ackowlegde his evil deeds. For the longest time users wouldn't accept he was indeed a rapist as he tried to force himself on to his wife. Now they keep removing him from sadist and this isn't the first time that's happened.
Why he doesn't count as as sadist is because he only kills/hurt people when it was ABSOLUTELY necessary and not just for the sake of it (same about for Gus for that matter). And if yout talking about when he admitted Jane's murder to Jesse after leaving him to the nazis, just to hurt him further, that was just one time in the entire series that he did something that is sadistic in nature. But overall it would be misleading to list him as a sadist, because overall he doesn't have that streak.
By that logic it's like saying Hank is a sadist for telling Walt that he hates him and that he waits for the cancer to kill him. Or when Jesse spits in his face after they arrest him. It's done out of personal hate and not actual sadism. Some gloating isn't enought to make someone count as a sadist (at least by this wikis standard). A Sadist, by this wikis definition, is someone who regularly feels joy in killing/hurting others, which cannot be said about Walt.
He felt ashamed about the incident with his son afterwards (and for that matter was anger-induced at the time). Still doesn’t make him a sadist.
Same thing about this whole (Faux) Affably Evil thing. By the wikis standards he clearly leans toward Affably Evil for the majority if the series. Only in the first half of S5 does he become FAE. And even Affably Evil villains can be rather manipulative at times.
I don’t want to sound like “The devil’s advocate” here, and I’m not asking you to unlock the page. Walt is by no means a good person, and due to his complex character, people have rather different opinions and interpretations of him. I’m just trying to give nuances here.
Man, with these types of characters, categories can become an edit war-zone on it’s own.
