  • Okay Jester I don't want to continue an edit war on Scar's page so let's continue our conversation here.

    • I was actually about to send a message as well. The meaning of genocide is the mass murder of an entire race or culture to wipe them all out not simply a large chunk/most it. What he does is basically mass destruction/murder and terrorism. His goal was to wipe out most it but keep his followers (who were of that area and culture) alive to allow him to rule the charred wasteland that remained. This exact reasoning was why we removed the movie version of Thanos a while back.

    • I don't really like the incredibly strict definition of genocide i mean its very hard to succeed in one Hitler never wiped out all of the Jews yet we still still call it a genocide the Rwandan genocide did not succeed yet it has genocide in the name. And also all of Scar's followers had been exiled from the Pride Lands and now live in the Outlands

And i am not lying about the definition look it up if you don't belive me.

    • Or if we want to use more fictional examples Fire Lord Sozin his crime is listed as genocide but on Airbender survived

    • Thing is Hitler did plan to wipe out all the Jews among other groups that’s why he gathered all he could up, he merely kept some alive longer to use as slave labor in the camps and to lessen the chance of revolting all at once through making them fear what might happen. People throw genocide around very loosely, much like some will call some others a “psychopath” or “insane” even if not actually the case. We try to be strict with all our categories vs using “oh they attempted to kill most a kingdom or a city therefore genocide” (yes some in the past tried saying to destroy a city equals genocide when it’s simply terrorism).

    • Thing is Sozin tried to kill even that one and the one that survived was thought dead to the public for a century.

    • I do understand that but the thing is your making it seem like that the definition of genocide is trying to wipe out an entire population so would all of those examples fall under attempted genocide?

Also i'm not getting this definition from some random person i'm getting it from the United Nations.

    • Rwandan genocide depends on his attempts if a full eradication of a group or just some mass murder but Sozin and Hitler count. The UN night use it differently but a general understanding is the total eradication of a race or culture or attempt. For examples: Judge Claude Frollo tries kill all the Gypsies in France and only reason not further is no power to do so yet still tries, The Huntsman tries to wipe out all supernatural creature thus mass genocide, Syndrome tries to wipe out all “heroes” (read superhuman given all so far shown are heroes) to come across as the greatest etc.. Scar it comes down to just “let’s kill most a kingdom for revenge then rule the charred wasteland and any survivors”. Scar is more like Shan Yu who’s not genocidal but very homicidal with the goal of killing a lot to conquer.

    • Ok if its really how you want to use it I won't get involved anymore, even if I still don't necessarily agree. But I should point something out Scar's personality section says he attempted to commit genocide so that should probably be used.

Also, I have a question would Zhan Tiri still count as genocidal as she did attempt to wipe out all of Corona and in the past, she nearly succeeded?

    • Yeah Zhan Tiri tried to wipe out an entire kingdom which is even called a small country thus counts.

    • Ok
