~ Thula to Thadeus during the Viltrumite War. |
Thula is a supporting antagonist in the Image Comics series Invincible and its animated adaptation of the same name.
She is a Viltrumite and soldier of the Viltrum Empire, participating in their effort to expand across the universe.
She is voiced by Grey DeLisle, who also voiced Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Mandy in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Vicky in The Fairly OddParents, Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: Clone Wars, Catwoman in the Batman: Arkham series and Injustice series, Aya in Green Lantern: The Animated Series, High Priestess in Samurai Jack, and Delilah Briarwood in The Legend of Vox Machina.
Biography[]
Background[]
Thula was born on the planet Viltrum and appeared during Thragg's ceremony when he became grand regent. She also took part in the civil war on Viltrum in which half of their population was killed in order to remove the weak to make themselves stronger. When the war was over, she emerged victorious alongside Kregg and Conquest.
Invincible[]
She participated in the Viltrumite War and committed a surprise attack against the Coalition of Planets, where she fought Battle Beast. After her planet was destroyed, she retreated but later returned to Earth to mate with a human to prevent the Viltrumite race from going extinct. However, she fell in love with a middle-aged man and had children with him, going against the order to commit mass breeding. Later on, Thula learned of Nolan's lineage to the late Emperor Argall and joined Anissa, Kregg and Lucan in attempting to kill Thragg. The group was stopped by Nolan, who wanted to spare Thragg so he could see the Viltrum Empire change for the better.
TV Series[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known of Thula's past, but she was born on the planet Viltrum during the reign of Emperor Argall. She later participated in the great purge, being one of the few survivors. Afterward, Thula joined Viltrum's cause to expand their empire across the galaxy. In addition, Thula had a blade tied to the end of her hair and used it during combat.
Season Two[]
After Nolan abandons his post to conquer Earth, the Viltrum Empire is informed by their Coalition of Planets mole and send Thula, Lucan and Vidor to find the deserter. The trio attack and interrogate Allen the Alien for information, but critically injured the Unopan when he refuses. The Viltrumites later found Nolan's location on the planet Thraxa, where they massacre its inhabitants while Lucan searches for the deserter. Following Lucan's supposed death, Thula and Vidor confront Nolan and his son Invincible and proceed to fight them. During the battle, Thula is briefly overpowered by an angered Invincible, but injures him with her blade when he hesitates to kill her.
As she attempts to kill Invincible, Nolan injures her by smashing her jaw against his elbow, causing her to fall unconscious. Following the battle and Lucan paralyzing Nolan, Thula was taken to the ship where she presumably received medical attention and cybernetics for her injuries.
