Tiny Firefly is a minor antagonist in the 2003 horror film House of 1000 Corpses and minor character in The Devil's Rejects.
He was portrayed by late Matthew McGrory.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Tiny is the son of Earl Firefly and Gloria Teasedale. He is also the younger brother of Rufus T. Firefly. Tiny is a grotesquely tall man with superhuman strength but has the mind of a child. When he was younger, his father went crazy and began to soak the whole house in gasoline to set it on fire. Tiny was asleep in the basement at the time, and since Earl managed to douse him with gasoline and set it on fire, Tiny suffered severe burns; burned almost all of his skin and ears. Still, Tiny managed to survive. At some point Gloria married Captain Spaulding, who became Tiny's stepfather.
In the following period, Tiny became part of his family's plans. It is not known whether he participated out of sadism or whether his family took advantage of his poor wits. During Halloween, he and the rest of his family kidnap young men and women who brutally torture and murder them. The survivors are lowered into a well on the Firefly lands on Halloween, where they are guided by Dr. Satan to be received.
House of 1000 Corpses[]
The day before Halloween, the family managed to lure students Jerry Goldsmith, Bill Hudley, Mary Knowles, and Denise Willis into their home without Tiny's help. Mother Firefly invites them to dinner and when it is time for dinner and Tiny shuffles into the room, everyone is shocked. Mother then tells Tiny to fetch Grandpa Hugo and uses Tiny's absence to tell the group about his tragic past. While Mother and Baby put on a distracting show for the guests, Tiny and his adoptive brother Otis went to the gate of the ranch. There they dress up as scarecrows and lie in wait. When the group actually appears to leave the Firefly's, Bill gets out of the car to open the gate to the ranch.
Otis then climbs off his stake and starts hitting Bill with a baseball bat. Jerry now gets out and throws himself at Otis, who can push him away. Jerry lands right in front of Tiny, who also gets off his pole and throws him into the windshield of the car. He now turns to the car in which Mary and Denise have locked themselves. Tiny then breaks the window and pulls Denise out of the car while Otis takes Mary as a prisoner. Denise does reapear until the next morning; she is in Tiny's room in the basement and is tied to the bed there. Shortly afterwards, Tiny shuffles into the cellar with a bowl of cornflakes. Ignoring Denise, he pours the cornflakes into the bowl. He then turns to Denise and hands her the bowl, but she is too scared to react. Since Denise doesn't take the food, Tiny simply eats it himself.
The panicked Denise begs him to let her go, whereupon Tiny loosens her bonds without hesitation. Surprised but also disturbed, Denise claims that she will go now, but Tiny only waves her goodbye before he goes back to his bowl. Denise doesn't even make it out of the room, however, as Otis appears, takes her back into custody and locks her up. In the evening the Halloween celebration of the Fireflys begins, for which all surviving prisoners are tied together in rabbit costumes. The family now leads the prisoners into the field and lets them into Dr. Satan down. Since Mary tried to escape and was killed by Baby, Tiny respectfully puts a mask on her corpse. Together with the rest of the family, he burns Mary's body, which also signals the end of the Halloween celebration.
The Devil's Rejects[]
During the Ruggsville County Sheriff's Department attack on the family's farm, Tiny was away from home to avoid being caught by the police. He only appears at the end of the movie where he saves Baby from Sheriff Wydell, by killing him, as well as Otis and Spaulding from a burning house. As the family is about to drive away, Tiny enters the burning house, presumably dying there.
