~ Tirado upon seeing Seth with Eirika. |
Tirado is a minor antagonist in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. He is an adjutant to General Valter of Grado, as well as commander of the forces at Fort Renvall.
Appearance[]
Tirado is a middle aged man with a square jaw and short brown hair. He wears red armor with gold accents.
Personality[]
Tirado appears loyal to his superior, pleasantly greeting Valter and eagerly providing information to the Moonstone during their meetings. However, rumors circulated by Grado locals suggest that this is a façade, and Tirado would usurp Valter's position should he have the chance. Although Tirado never gets such an opportunity, he does demonstrate a manipulative side by helping convince Orson to betray Renais.
Biography[]
When King Vigarde of Grado promoted Valter to the rank of Imperial General, Tirado was appointed as his aide. Shortly beforehand, Grado suddenly attacked its heretofore ally Renais, beginning the War of the Stones. Renais' Prince Ephraim led a small squad consisting of himself, Commander Orson, and the knights Forde and Kyle into Grado to defend his country. In response, Tirado hired several bands of mercenaries to pursue Ephraim and defend Fort Renvall. He was also able to isolate Orson and convince the commander that his beloved wife Monica, who perished six months ago, could be resurrected if only he betrayed Renais. All this Tirado relayed to Valter when he visited Renvall. Having been notified by Orson that Ephraim planned a direct assault on the fort, Tirado installed mercenary leader Zonta as commander of Renvall's forces while he and Valter departed to ready the latter's army. But though Valter's forces successfully surrounded Renvall following Zonta's death, Ephraim and his men were able to cut through and escape to the east.
Much later in the war, Grado conspired to lure Ephraim's sister Eirika into a trap. Eirika's party rode for Fort Renvall, having been told that Ephraim was imprisoned and lay rotting in its dungeons. Tirado commanded Murray's Brigade to guard Renvall, and Orson to meet with Eirika after her forces inevitably defeated the brigade. Claiming that he escaped from Renvall's dungeons, Orson led Eirika down to Ephraim's supposed cell, but was stopped by her trusted knight Seth, who wanted to know the nature of their captivity. After listening to Orson's explanation and suggestion that Eirika turn over her bracelet for her safety and that of Renais' Sacred Stone, Seth demanded he turn over his weapons. His treachery revealed, Orson admitted that Grado promised to resurrect Monica, and Tirado arrived to relieve him of his duties. As Orson returned to Renais to be reunited with his wife, Tirado explained that Ephraim's whereabouts are unknown, and gloated over his rumormongering and success at trapping Eirika. To prevent Eirika's forces from retreating, Tirado ordered Renvall's bridge destroyed. However, they were saved by the timely appearance of Ephraim, Kyle, and Forde, and with the three's help, struck down Tirado.
