My dear sir, one gives orders only when one can make others obey! For instance... I am the one to give orders because I can carry them out!
~ The Toad

The Toad (real name: Weston), is a minor antagonist of the Lash Lightning comic series, appearing as the main antagonist of issue 7 of Four Favorites Comics.

He is a Nazi agent who is tasked with making sure Congress signs peace treaty with the Nazis, whether they like it or not. He is accompanied by his henchmen who he makes sure they refer to him by his real name and carries a soundwave device that produce electric blasts powerful enough to kill his targets.

Biography[]

The Toad is seen infiltrating a meeting at the Madison Square Garden, where he strangles a worker to death and watches as the famed Jay Millard tries to give his speech opposing the peace treaty. The peace treaty was plan made by the Axis Powers to keep America out of the war and prevent people of their countries from rebelling. He uses his sonic soundwave device to kill Jay Millard, causing agony to his brain and exploding his ear, killing him. He then has his men shut off the light and makes his escape, not wanting to confront Lash Lightning just yet. He puts up a civilian uniform to disguise himself, while one of his men steals the manuscript of Millard's speech.

He is met up with one of his henchmen who called him by his supervillain alias, which sets him off and proceeds to choke the man in retaliation and attempted to kill him. He demanded he be called by his real name, Weston, as he only referred that his enemies call him the Toad. He learned one of his goons failed to steal the manuscript, having dropped it somewhere at a radio station. He uses his device to kill the man and sends his goons to find it, killing several people at any radio station they find. They find the radio station where the manuscript was dropped at, and attack the place, with Toad attempting to kidnap a lady who worked there. He is foiled by Lash Lightning who came to find the manuscript and succeeded. The Toad tries to fight off Lash but is overwhelmed by his powers and was knocked out. He wakes up and kicks Lash, and attacks the woman next to him, but when he tried to use his machine on Lash it was destroyed. He is then forced to flee from the scene, jumping from high off the building and landed safely due to his superhuman abilities.

He speaks with one of the Nazi spies after Lightning gave Millard's speech, foiling the Axis' plot to dissuade the US from interfering any further with the war. He decided to use his new device, the same one as his other one but much bigger, to transmit a broadcast to threaten the US into a peace treaty with the Axis or else millions of Americans will die a horrible death similar to Jay Millard's. Even threatening that Lash Lighting will be the first to perish. The transmitter is capable of producing bolts of electricity over the soundwaves created when one speaks, causing explosions around the ear. As such, Lightning tells the people of America not to speak or else they die. Due to Lash's powers, he is immune to Toad's weapon and comes up with a plan to stop the Toad for good. He uses his lightning bolt to follow the soundwave back to Toad's machine, there he finds Toad and his lair and fights him. He destroys the machine, and defeated the Toad and sends him to the authorities to lock him away.

Personality[]

The Toad is an intelligent but ruthless supervillain but is efficient in his job. He hates being called by his villain name by his own men, doing so sets him off to a murderous rage as he wants only his enemies call him that. He does not take well to failure, having killed one of his minions for incompetence and even choking them if they dare not call him by his other name. He also hates woman, deeming them to have always been his nemesis after assaulting one of them. He also takes great joy seeing his invention succeeded, preferably one that is capable of taking one's life in the most painful way possible.
