Todd is the secondary antagonist in A Dog's Purpose. He is Ethan's former best friend.
Biography[]
Todd and Ethan were originally friends, Todd and Ethan grow apart since they have different interests, as Ethan likes football, swimming, and fishing while Todd likes setting things on fire, burning dolls, and playing with explosives. He lures Bailey into his house and appears to have the intention of doing something bad to him, although he never manages to do it. When Marshmallow, another dog in the neighborhood goes missing, it is assumed that Todd had made s'mores out of her, although it's never confirmed.
When Ethan and Hannah enter a restaurant nearby, Ethan finds his dad, Jim waiting for him there, Todd heard about Ethan and his dad's conversation. After Ethan and Hannah are about to leave, however, they are approached by Todd saying things about his dad being drunk, this frustrates Ethan, causing him to punch Todd before leaving with Hannah to his house.
This angers Todd, who approaches Ethan's house then proceeds to put a firework inside his house, then Bailey catches Todd, but Todd manages to run away before the house is set on fire. Bailey alarms Ethan and his mom that the house is on fire, They safely exit on the second floor but Ethan falls to the ground and injures Ethan. He is sent to the hospital leading Bailey to chase after Todd eventually catching him by the police arresting him.
Unknown fate[]
It is not known what happened to Todd, but since Ethan, his age, is already old by the end of the sequel, it is possible that Todd had died of old age by this point.
