Tom Wilcox is a minor antagonist of The Mentalist TV-show. He is a bank robber, who is responsible for Patrick temporarily losing his memory. He was played by Kenneth Mitchell.
Biography[]
One day, Teresa Lisbon's team is called to investigate another murder. Patrick Jane, the team's consultant, arrives with the team. While inspecting the scene, Patrick is attacked. Someone drowns him in water. Fortunately, his colleagues find him very quickly. Patrick is taken to the hospital. However, Patrick did not see the attacker. Moreover, he does not remember not only the attack, but anything at all since the death of his family (he even forgets the fact that he has a family). Doctors advise Teresa to send Patrick to a familiar environment so that he can quickly regain his lost memories. Teresa brings him to work. Patrick remembers his colleagues and their names, but not everything else. He assumes that Teresa's team is investigating a bank robbery, information about which is posted on the board. But his colleagues explain to him that another investigative group is handling this case, and Teresa's team is investigating the murder of a firefighter. Then Patrick decides to talk to the colleagues of the murdered man. He finds out that one of the dead man's colleagues slept with his wife, and that the dead man liked to take more credit for himself than he actually deserved. Patrick also talks to Tom Wilcox, the man the dead fireman was the last to save. Tom's daughter asks Patrick to find her doll, which disappeared in the fire. Patrick does so. Later, he talks to Tom himself. He claims to have found a mask in his house similar to the one used in the robbery that another CBI investigation team was investigating. Patrick assumes that Tom was the robber. He killed the guards, robbed the bank, brought the money home, and tried to burn the evidence in the fireplace (otherwise, why would he light a fireplace in such a warm time of year). However, a fire broke out and Tom lost consciousness. The fire brigade was called. The dead fireman pulled Tom out, but saw the mask and realized that Tom was the robber. Tom had to kill the man who saved his life. He also attacked Patrick, who was investigating the murder. Tom denies it, but is soon forced to admit that it was so. Patrick demands part of the stolen money from him. Soon, Tom is arrested. Teresa takes Patrick to his home and his lost memory returns.
