Tom Winston is the overarching antagonist of the first season of the 2016 anthology horror series Slasher.
He was once a pastor who fell in love with a girl named Rachel Ingram. After being betrayed by Rachel, he dressed as an executioner and murdered both her and her husband on Halloween night. Afterwards he was sentenced to life imprisonment in Franklin Penitentiary. Thirty years later, his crimes would inspire a copycat who would go on to terrorize his daughter, Sarah Bennett. Over the course of the first season, he helps Sarah figure out the dark truths of Waterbury, Canada from behind bars. Eventually when The Executioner kidnaps both him and his daughter, he sacrifices himself so The Executioner will spare Sarah's life.
He was portrayed by Patrick Garrow. Young Tom was portrayed by David Patrick Flemming. In-costume scenes as The Executioner were portrayed by Steve Gagne and David Patrick Flemming.
Biography[]
Executioner Double Homicide[]
Tom Winston was a pastor for the local church in Waterbury, Canada. He sought to bring an end to the corruption that plagued the town, mainly a pornographic film industry. However, members of the porn film industry didn't like that, and one of them, named Rachel Ingram came to the church to seduce Tom. It worked, and they had sex, but without his knowledge, Rachel's husband Bryan had filmed the whole thing and used the tape to blackmail Tom into leaving their operation alone.
Tom was forced to agree, but felt betrayed and taken advantage of. So, on Halloween night when Bryan and Rachel were getting ready to go to a party, Tom showed up, dressed as an executioner. Thinking, he was their friend, Alan, Bryan and Rachel invited Tom in. When the real Alan showed up at the door, Tom made his move and stuck the serrated machete he had brought, through Bryan's back and out through his chest. He then grabbed Alan and cut his face, leaving him scarred, but letting him go. Tom then attacked Rachel and unmasked himself to her. Rachel told him that she had gotten pregnant from their encounter, so Tom cut the baby out of her stomach and finished her off by stabbing her in the neck. When police arrived on the scene, Tom sat in a rocking chair, holding his infant daughter. The case became infamous, and Tom was sentenced to life imprisonment and Franklin Penitentiary.
