Tomofumi Minami is the main antagonist of the Detective Conan/Case Closed episode The Golf Driving Range Murder Case "The Golf Driving Range Murder Case" (Driving a Bomb in the dubbed). He is the employee at Itsui Electronics as a Product Development employee manager.

He was voiced by Hiroaki Hirata who also voiced Re-Destro from My Hero Academia and Kaguro from Kekkaishi.

Biography[]

Tomofumi made his first appearance when he, along with his fellow workers Tatsuya Okubo and Minoru Yasui arrived at the golf court with their boss Eisuke Tachibana, went to the golf range to do a little playing before going to work. As Eisuke was hitting the balls, Tomofumi notice Conan and warned him to stay a bit away from the range, then was confronted by Minoru when he was asked about the Driver's Repair as a section expense.

As Eisuke hit the ball, a powerful explosion occurred, which resulted in the death of Eisuke Tachibana, Luckily Conan, Ran and Kogoro was at the sight when the event happened. Moments later Megure arrived and asked what happened. Tomofumi then told that all three of them could be suspects due to all three of them hating him, with Tatsuya believing that as he remembers that Eisuke stealing credit for three products ideas that he created and how he would ignore Tomofumi ideas, no matter how much he thought of. Minoru was even revealed that Eisuke stole his girlfriend a while back, despite him claiming she dumped him.

Kogoro (in one of his failed deductions) deduced that the culprit was Minoru Yasui. As one of the major clues is that he left the site when he went to get Coffee from the owner's wife as the others were caught in the blast. However, Kogoro still thinks it was too convenient that he did that and thinks he still did it. Later when a Golf Ball (which had the same Red X as the supposed ball from the explosion) was found in the bag, Minoru was still viewed as the culprit and was about to be taken in police station.

Luckily Conan (via Kogoro) revealed that the culprit was none other than Tomofumi Minami and revealed the golf ball with the red X was already in the driver head itself as after he got it repaired yesterday, he took it and place it in the head and gave it back the next morning. Then when Eisuke hit the ball, the ball with the explosion would kill him. He even came up with an alibi for not getting the balls by pretending to have a stomachache and going to the bathroom while Minoru got the ball from the machine.

A Major hint of him being the culprit was that even though he was hit by the explosion, only half body was hurt while Tatsuya had his whole body was injured. With his crime expose, he revealed that he was the culprit and explain his motive for killing his boss. It was due to him never acknowledge his skills and wanted to frame Minoru for sucking up to him and being a brown nose. He even revealed that he didn't care if innocent people would have been killed in the explosion if the place was crowd. With that Tomofumi was then taken away by Megure, Conan remarks that he remembers that before the event, Tomofumi warned him to not get too close right before The event.

In the FUNimation dub, The Dialogue of Tomofumi motive for killing Eisuke and framing Mihoru was changed (including Americanize the names) such as revealing that Michael Achurbee (Tomofumi Minami) was the unwanted son of Einstein Achurbee (Eisuke Tachibana) who was planning to retire today and making Sean Yoeman (Minoru Yasu) the new director of the company, so he would plan to frame him and become the new director of the company, even hinting that he killed a few in order to be the new director.
