Tondo Gang (popularly known as Batang Tondo) are recurring antagonists of the Filipino TV series FPJ's Batang Quiapo. They are the arch-rivals of the Batang Quiapo Gang, whom they met after attempting to stop their holdups in Quiapo. They are mostly seen wearing pure black streetwears. Underground Filipino hip-hop artists and Fliptop battle MCs mostly portray them (including Smugglaz, Bassilyo, Flict-G, Kial, Crazymix, Jonas, Pistolero, and Mastafeat).

Biography[]

In the series, they were first seen wandering in Quiapo and hatched a plan to rob all around the vicinity after being tired of robbing around their nearby homes in Tondo and earning a small amount of valuables. Meanwhile, they attempted to hostage a bus, which alarmed Tanggol and his gang. They attempted to fight the gang but ended up with Kidlat shooting Tanggol in the waist, which made them escape the situation. Days later, they met and befriended Edwin to keep an eye on Tanggol and his gang. Primo and his gang, another notorious group in Quiapo, invited them to join, but they refused.

As they continued hatching crimes in Quiapo, they then attempted to hostage a jeepney, but the authorities were alarmed and arrested Bochok this time. The gang became desperate and asked locals about Edwin’s whereabouts. One night, they found Edwin standing by at Mokang’s debut to ask to return the money he borrowed, but he refused. At the same time, Tanggol and his gang were alarmed about their surprise coming, which ended up with two gangs brawling in Mokang’s debut. This was ended when Tanggol shot Kidlat, and both gangs escaped when Rigor and Mando responded. Kidlat was rushed to a nearby hospital, and the gang became more desperate, wherein they threatened Edwin to help them bail Bochok and pay for Kidlat's hospital bills.

Kidlat later escaped from the hospital and finally convinced Edwin to be part of their group. Edwin later participated in their crimes around Quiapo after Tanggol took away Mokang to escape Rigor. Edwin was able to retrieve Mokang when the gang once again faced and maimed Tanggol.

During Marsing's recovery after being injured in traffic and Roda’s blackmail for their rent, Edwin hatched a plan to rob his wealth and stab him. Tanggol became the scapegoat in the incident for stabbing and breaking Roda’s house. Upon robbing Roda’s wealth, the gang devised a plan to sell drugs in Quiapo for Marsing's hospital bills. However, their business caused tension between Edwin and Kidlat, which made them brawl. This was then settled when they once again saw Roda withdrawing money from the bank and once again broke and burned his home indirectly after Roda resisted and accidentally hit the flaring candle.

Luis Jacobe led a drug raid where he and the police shot or arrested all the members. A few days later, all members were transferred to the National Correctional Facility. After arriving at the court, the gang starts killing the police to escape the court. Buboy and Bagyo were killed after attempting to escape. Lucio joins the Tondo gang after helping the group escape from the police and become a new leader.

They helped Roy and Angkong escape from Salazar's men after they attempted to kill the remaining Red Phoenix. After saving them, the Tondo gang members were assigned by Angkong and Roy to take down Salazar and his men, which they succeeded. Later, they were assigned to finish the Montenegros led by Ramon. Later on, after Lucio betrayed Angkong by assassinating him, the gang became his trusted enforcers in the Red Phoenix criminal activities.
