| ~ Blair's interview with Brian Walden, showing his incompetence |
Sir Tony Blair is a major antagonist in the original ITV run of Spitting Image, before returning as a supporting antagonist in the spinoff of the ITV reboot of Spitting Image, The Rest is Bullshit.
He is a parody of the real life former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and accused war criminal of the same name, whose notoriety, particularly his invasion of Iraq in 2001 on false allegations of WMDs, led to his portrayal here in a villainous capacity.
He was voiced by Alistair McGowan, who also played Andrew Mountbatten Windsor in the same series, Carlos in the Robbie the Reindeer film Legend of the Lost Tribe and Angus Bumby in Alice: Madness Returns,
Biography[]
Spitting Image[]
In the original series, Blair was portrayed as a whining, incompetent child, who refused to pay attention to party policy - having to go home for "bedtime" as he was considered too young to be the Labour Party leader. However, later on, when "Uncle Gordon" stands down, Blair becomes the leader of the Labour Party and shifts the party dramatically more to the centre and then to the right - upsetting many left wing voters ("We're Alright"). However, he becomes popular among the public.
The Rest is Bullshit[]
However, in the reboot, post the invasion of Iraq, he appears again, as much more manipulative, scheming man - who Keir Starmer looks to for advice on how to be more right wing. He appears in the form of "Jiminy Blair" as the devil on Starmer's shoulder, turning him further right - and then again offering "Blair's Rebuilding Service" in the Middle East, referencing his work behind the scenes in creating Trump's peace deal, which is spoken about frequently (particularly about its fragility). Blair appears once more on Prince Andrew's podcast on the advice of Peter Mandelson, advertising the product "Pro-Teen" and denying any responsibility for his actions - claiming they were due to a "lack of intelligence" rather than deliberately malicious. Blair then flees the interview, claiming that Mandelson has "got to stop setting [him] up with these guys".
Blair is later depicted as Starmer's father in a parody of Home Alone, where he is the husband of Angela Rayner.
