Biography[]
Backstory[]
Anthony Blundetto was born on March 16, 1957 to Al and Quintina Blundetto. As a youth, Blundetto was close with his cousin Tony Soprano and they would tease their other cousin Christopher Moltisanti together when they visited their uncle Pat's farm. The Two Tonys planned a hijacking together but Soprano was unable to make it as he passed out from a panic attack due to an argument with his mother, Livia. Blundetto wound up in prison and Tony blamed himself. Although he was never made it was implied Blundetto had been involved in a murder before his incarceration. During his stay in prison Blundetto had two sons Jason, and Justin as Soprano smuggled his sperm out of prison (Blundetto would try to teach them right from wrong so they didn't end up like him just as Tony did for his children). Blundetto also established a close friendship with his cellmate Angelo Garepe.
Season 5[]
Blundetto is among a group of gangsters released from prison in 2004 and is the only one who attempts to go straight. Tony was disappointed when Blundetto turned down his offer to work in a life of crime but reluctantly accepts it and uses his influence to get Blundetto a job, working for an Asian man named Mr. Kim at a laundry company.
Kim makes it clear he despises Blundetto as he is both white and an ex-con but later starts to like Blundetto when he learns of his desires to become a licensed massage therapist. Blundetto acted as the voice of reason when a situation between Tony and Christopher arose, talking Tony into sparing Chris's life.
Blundetto gets a large sum of money when a paranoid drug dealer thinks he's being tailed by the police and throws it out a window. However Blundetto then goes on a self-destructive tear, blowing his money on gambling and expensive clothes to keep up with the relatively wealthy members of Tony's crew. After being berated by Kim Blundetto angrily beats him, ostensibly because he'd been doing all the work. He then meets Tony and asks to be allowed back into the organization which Tony decides to allow.
Since a power struggle was going on in New York between Little Carmine Lupertazzi and Johnny Sack, Blundetto was approached by Angelo and Rusty Millio who offered him money if he took out Sack's ally Joey Peeps. Blundetto initially turned it down but was angered that he wasn't moving up fast enough in the family and decided to accept. After killing Peeps, Blundetto also eliminated the prostitute he was with to make sure he faces no reprisals from Johnny.
Despite this, word got back to Johnny that Blundetto had been spotted in the area. Tony chose to cover for his cousin and tell Johnny he had been helping Blundetto look for his estranged daughter Kelly which Johnny seemed to reluctantly accept. However, after Angelo was murdered by Billy and Phil Leotardo, Blundetto couldn't contain his rage, attacking the brothers and killing Billy in revenge. Following this, Blundetto was forced into hiding.
New York demanded that Tony give up his cousin but he refused even though it cost him some respect from his men. Tony did at one point consider revealing Blundetto's location but when Johnny revealed Phil intended to torture Blundetto he had a change of heart. When Phil put Soprano associate Benny Fazio in the hospital, Tony decided he couldn't protect his cousin and killed him himself to give him the most painless death possible, correctly guessing that Phil could be appeased with enough money.
