Anthony "Tony" DeMarco, Jr. is a minor antagonist in the 2012 video game Max Payne 3. He is the Underboss of the DeMarco Crime Family, and the son of Anthony DeMarco.
He was voiced by Charlie Semine.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Tony DeMarco was born in New Jersey sometime in 1985, as the only son of crime boss Anthony DeMarco. During his early life, the DeMarcos were not a powerful faction in the New York City and New Jersey underworld, but after the Punchinello Crime Family was, over the course of 2001-2003, weakened by former NYPD Detective Max Payne, and later by the machinations of Russian mobster Vladimir Lem, the DeMarcos gradually filled up the power vacuum. By 2011, the DeMarcos had become one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the area, and Tony would often use this power for his own desires.
Tony would hang out with his friends at Walton's Bar, owned by a man named Marty in Hoboken. It was during these visits that Tony met Max Payne, and would often insult him and try to kick him out of the bar, though Max would ignore him.
Death[]
In late 2011, Tony once again visited Walton's Bar with a few of his friends and encountered Max. He proceeded to insult the ex-cop and claim that he "owned this town." Max would retaliate in kind, additionally claiming that it was his father that "owned" Hoboken. Tony became angry, thinking that Max had insulted his family. He unsuccessfully attempted to intimidate Max, only for his efforts to be shut down by Raul Passos, a Latino man who had come to recruit Max to work for the Branco family in Brazil. Passos got Tony to stand down, and him and his friends left the bar, telling the two that they would return to deal with them later.
A few hours later, Tony and his friends indeed returned, and once again attempted to scare Max and Passos away. As the situation proceeded to heat up, he hit a woman who taunted him by claiming she was not frightened of him, after he had insulted her and told her to not look at him. Max, angered by this, took Tony's gun, and shot him in the chest, killing him. This resulted in a massive shoot-out between Max and Passos, and Tony's men.
Legacy[]
When Tony's father found out about his death, he vowed to kill Max and Passos for what they did to his son, in a fit of rage and heartbreak. DeMarco sent hired guns and hitmen to attack Max's apartment complex to kill him, while yelling at the ex-detective for killing Tony. Despite the amount of mobsters being sent, Max and Passos were able to escape. More mobsters would tail them at a nearby cemetery a few days later, and DeMarco later personally confronted the two, but still failed to kill them before they escaped to Brazil.
