~ Tony Prince to Luis Lopez. |
Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince is a major character of the Grand Theft Auto IV trilogy, being the titular deuteragonist of The Ballad of Gay Tony, and a supporting character in the 2013 video-game multiplayer Grand Theft Auto Online.
He is the owner of several nightclubs throughout Liberty City and Los Santos and is a business associate and best friend with his bodyguard, Luis Fernando Lopez.
He was voiced by David Kenner.
Personality[]
Tony is the literal opposite of Luis, with Luis being confident, level-headed and good under pressure, with Tony being a cowardly, insecure and overreacting man who at the same time has a huge ego, with him having various selfish actions shown throughout the storyline.
Despite this, Tony truly cares for people such as Luis, Evan Moss and Gracie Ancelotti. When Evan is killed, Tony immediately feels guilty with him blaming himself entirely. When Gracie is kidnapped, Tony is extremely upset and stressed out from the news, with him begging her to come to him during the deal. Finally, Tony treats Luis like his own son, feeling extremely depressed when Luis almost kills him, with him also trying to kill himself after feeling bad about "ruining" Luis' life.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Anthony Prince was born in the Midwest (most likely Ohio, Michigan or North Yankton) either on 1958 or 1963, and grew up in Dukes, Liberty. According to the Masionette 9 website, Tony would stare across the Humboldt River, dreaming of living across the other side (that being Algonquin). He would also play around the Monoglobe, wandering about how people from other countries live. After becoming ashamed of being born in Dukes, he stopped speaking to his parents.
He went to college in circa 1975, with his main focus being on the start of his night club business. The first club he opened, he called "Puddle" that was a converted mortuary. In 1985, Tony was arrested for tax evasion and at sometime gained the nickname, "Gay Tony" as he became an open homosexual at that point. Tony eventually continues his night club business and is arrested twice for possession of cocaine and public lewdness respectively.
In 2003, Tony begins to struggle with his mental health, with him mostly taking it out by doing drugs. Sometime later, Tony met and befriends Gracie Ancelotti, the daughter of mob boss, Giovanni Ancelotti after she fails to get inside Masionette 9. Two years later, Tony hired former drug dealer, Luis Fernando Lopez as his personal bodyguard, growing a father-son relationship with him and began dating his on & off boyfriend, Evan Moss.
Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City[]
Eventually, Tony begins owing money to loan sharks, Rocco Pelosi and Mori Kibbutz, enforcing Luis to work for them in order to make up for not paying them. Soon after, Tony begins to feel hope for his failing business when Luis starts working for millionaires, Ray Bulgarin and Yusuf Amir.
Eventually, Tony agrees to a deal with an unnamed cook in which he will receive over $2,000,000 worth of diamonds. During the deal, The Lost MC steal the diamonds from Evan Moss, after he escapes the car and is killed by Johnny Klebitz. Later, Tony hires Luis to ambush the deal between Niko Bellic, Johnny Klebitz and Isaac Roth, resulting in the death of Mori Green. Soon after, Niko Bellic and Pegorino Crime Family associate, Patrick McReary kidnap Gracie, with them demanding back the diamonds, until the deal is ambushed by Ray Bulgarin. Later, Rocco tries to convince Luis to kill Tony, due to him being enemies with some Russian gangsters, with Luis instead killing Rocco's uncle, Vince. After, Tony order Luis to steal heroin from a deal with Ray Bulgarin involved, in which he is also ordered to kill Bulgarin and his right-hand-man, Timur.
Grand Theft Auto Online[]
Around 2018, Tony moved to Los Santos, San Andreas in order to expand his night club business. With the help of the GTA Online Protagonist, Tony opens up some venues and 10 night clubs, along with the help of Lazlow Jones and English Dave. Four years later, the GTA Online Protagonist is allowed to take part in Club management missions at Prince's night clubs.
