Violent Spirit Top Gunder is a high-ranking assassin the Neros Empire's Battle Robot Army and a major antagonist in Choujinki Metalder.
He was voiced by Atsuo Mori, who also voiced Coolgin in the same show as well as Sound Ninja Uha and Strowver in the succeeding show Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
Biography[]
Top Gunder was originally built to be an assassin robot a la the manga character Golgo 13, with Balusky directly comparing the two. Because of his skill at assassinating people, Top Gunder quickly rose up the ranks of the Battle Robot Army. Around the time he was set to be promoted to Heroic Fighter, Top Gunder's partner betrayed him while they were out the field and tried to kill him to claim his glory, but Top Gunder killed his partner first by being quicker to the draw.
After Metalder destroyed several of the Neros Empire's assassins, Top Gunder was sent out to deal with him solo. However, while out in the field Top Gunder defied orders and thus, when he returned, was sentenced to be executed. His superior Balusky stepped up to carry out the execution himself as a way of taking responsibility for his subordinates actions and went out with the Battle Robot Army and Armament Army to kill Top Gunder. Top Gunder managed to escape, but despite being cast out of Neros Top Gunder refused to join up with Metalder, though he did suggest following the clues left by Dr. Koga if Metalder wanted to find out who Neros was.
Eventually, Top Gunder joined Metalder in fighting Neros and assisted him in storming the Ghost Bank to confront Neros. After seemingly defeating Neros (really Coolgin in disguise as him), Metalder and Top Gunder exited the Ghost Bank following its destruction. After taking out the remaining Armament Army, the two were ambushed by Neros in disguise as Coolgin, who fatally wounded Top Gunder.
After dying, Top Gunder was buried and given a funeral by Ryusei and his allies, with his rifle being used to mark his grave.
