~ Tori admitting to killing her victims |
Tori Brock is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Probability of Doom". She is a serial killer who targets pedophiles, including her own father.
She was portrayed by Sarah Lynn Marion.
Early life[]
Tori grew up in a working-class family in New York City. Her mother died when she was eight, shortly after the birth of her sister, Nina. Her father, James, started sexually abusing her right after her mother died, abuse that continued until she was a teenager. When Nina was eight years old, James started lusting after her, but Tori stopped him from abusing her sister by offering herself to him.
When she was in her early 20s, he tried to get away from James by getting a GED, going to a trade school, and getting a job as a janitor. However, she could not bring herself to abandon Nina, now 13, to their father's abuse, so she kept living in his house to keep an eye on her.
Six weeks before the events of the episode, she went through James' phone and saw that he was using an app called K-Dome to solicit sex from young girls. She snapped and killed him by stabbing him to death; she then dismembered the body and disposed of her father's remains at a beach near Atlantic City.
Soon afterward, another pedophile, Wayne Miller, approached Nina in a park and tried to proposition her. Tori decided to kill him, as well, so she used K-Dome to catfish him, posing as an underage girl and offering to hook up with him; she then went to his house and stabbed him to death and dismembered his body. By now obsessed with ridding the world of men like her father, she catfished convicted sex offender Gary Turner in a similar manner and killed and dismembered him.
"Probability of Doom"[]
When Miller's ex-wife reports him to the NYPD's Special Victims Unit for possession of child pornography, Captains Olivia Benson and Renee Curry, Sergeant Fin Tutuola, and Detective Joe Velasco go to his house to arrest him, only to find his dismembered corpse.
Benson and Tutuola track down the young girl in Miller's child porn, who says that Miller had contacted her via K-Dome and promised her "modeling work". At that moment, the NYPD's Homicide Department contacts Benson and alerts them that they have found Turner's body, murdered and mutilated in the same way, and that he used K-Dome shortly before his death to communicate with someone claiming to be an underage girl.
Tutuola goes through Turner and Miller's K-Dome accounts and discovers that both of them had communicated with a user named Previous Yamm. After tracing the account to James' residence, Benson and the rest of the SVU team go there to arrest him, only to find Tori and Nina there, alone. Tori says that James is in Atlantic City on business, but Benson thinks she is covering for her father and takes her and Nina into protective custody.
Benson and Assistant District Attorney Dominick Carisi, Jr. talk to Nina, who tells them about Miller propositioning her. When James' truck is found abandoned on the beach in Atlantic City, the SVU team search the area and find James' mutilated body. They also find a bloodstained jigsaw buried nearby and test it for fingerprints - and find Tori's. They arrest her outside of her job, even as she protests that she has to pick Nina up from school.
Benson and Carisi interrogate Tori, who claims that James had been depressed the last time she saw him in order to make them think he killed himself. Benson does not believe her, however, and says that Turner, Miller, and her father were all bad men who probably got what they deserved. Over her lawyer's objections, Tori admits that she killed all three men, and that she enjoyed doing it. She then describes the abuse she suffered at his hands and says that she allowed him to hurt her so he wouldn't hurt Nina. Carisi later tells Benson that he will try to get a plea bargain for Tori, but that she will most likely go to prison for a long time. Nina, meanwhile, is taken in and adopted by her grandmother.
