The Steambot was the traffic light and cat-themed monster of the Machine Empire serving Prince Sprocket and a very minor antagonist in the Power Rangers Zeo episode "Invasion of the Ranger Snatchers."
Biography[]
Unlike many other monsters, the Traffic Kitty was originally a lifeless monster suit designed for a monster B-movie dubbed "Invasion Of Blueface" which is based loosely on the Zeo Rangers' fight against the Machine Empire. Inspired by the movie, Prince Sprocket decides to shoot his own movie but use it to destroy the Zeo Rangers and render the Earth defenceless. Instead of using pre-built monsters of the Machine Empire though, since Sprocket thinks that using any other monsters will make his movie less impressive, he decides to steal the monster suits from the movie set. The Cogs succeed, taking the Traffic Kitty suit along with three others and luring the Zeo Rangers into a massive Cog battle where they are captured by the Video Vulture. Whilst the Rangers are trapped, the suits are animated as sentient monsters for use in the Prince's film. Later, fter the Zeo Rangers escape from Sprocket's movie by saving people from a doomed bus, Sprocket sends all four monsters to confront the Rangers to create a new climax for his movie. They easily overwhelm the heroes; the Traffic Kitty combining its lightning blasts with its allies to blast them down before all four monsters merge into Bucket of Bolts. However, although the monster is formidable, Bucket of Bolts is swiftly destroyed by the Zeo Megazord and takes the Pumpkin Sorcerer down with him.
After Sprocket complains about Punch-A-Bunch damaging himself during battle against the Zeo Rangers, the Traffic Kitty is indirectly referenced along with all previous monsters used up to that point when Queen Machina reassures her distraught son that the Rangers have ruined all of their monsters.
Personality[]
Due to its very limited screen-time, and the fact that it never spoke, the Traffic Kitty's personality is largely unknown but it was shown to be loyal to Sprocket and willing to kill the Zeo Rangers.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Light Flashing: The Traffic Kitty could also unleash a blinding light from his red signal light to disorientate his enemies and leave them open to attack.
- Light Lightning: The Traffic Kitty could spray red lightning from his red light that, when combined with the other monsters' blasts, completely defeated the Zeo Rangers.
- Fusion: The Traffic Kitty was able to fuse with the other three monsters to form Bucket of Bolts.
Arsenal[]
- Claws: Although he never used them, the Traffic Kitty had razor sharp cat claws to maul his enemies.
Trivia[]
- In Ohranger, the Traffic Kitty was far stronger and had more screen-time; even fighting Tommy and Tanya before the Leaky Faucet. This was cut both for time.
