Trent MacGowen was a metahuman assassin with the ability to morph his body parts into metallic weapons in the WB TV series Smallville.
He appeared as the secondary antagonist in the Season Four episode "Gone".
He was portrayed by James Bell.
Biography[]
Trent MacGowen was a metahuman who possessed the power to morph his body into liquid metal. At will, he could alter his body's consistency and shape his extremities into solid sharp metal blades. Using this ability, he became an assassin-for-hire until he was apprehended and landed in Belle Reve Sanitarium.
When Lionel Luthor was sentenced to prison for murdering his parents, he had Trent MacGowen released from Belle Reve and hired him to find Chloe Sullivan and kill her before she could testify against Lionel in court. Trent took the job because he wanted a normal life and Lionel promised he would reverse Trent's metahuman condition and make him human again.
Trent went to Smallville and saw Lois Lane digging into Chloe's grave, discovering there was no body but an empty coffin, proving that Chloe was alive. Trent approached her at the grave site and demanded an explanation but she ignored him. He morphed his hand into a huge blade and attacked her, knocking away Lois' prepared bottle of pepper spray. Lana Lang appears and knocked the assassin in the head with a shovel, to no effect. She sprayed him in the eyes with mace and he recoils. Lana helps Lois up and when they turn around, Trent had disappeared.
Trent met with Lionel, who was recovering in the prison hospital, and revealed that he killed two security guards instead of killing Chloe. Lionel reminded him of their deal. Trent abducted Chloe and brought her to an industrial foundry bound and tied to a crane. She managed to kick a button to let herself down. She was untying herself when Trent grabbed her by the throat. He tried choking her to death by morphing his hand into a metal claw but Clark Kent super-speeds in, and threw Trent across the foundry.
Trent saw his reflection as Chloe fainted. Once again, Trent morphed his arm into a sword, but was unable to harm Clark. Clark and Trent battled as he blocks Trent's sword again and again, advancing on him. Clark went to attack him but fell right through Trent. They battled it out until Lois sneaked up behind Trent and fired a large stun gun at him. Clark then used this opportunity to fry Trent with his heat vision. Combined with the heat vision and laser beam, Trent exploded into a puddle of molten metal.

- Though not seen on screen, Trent possessed the power of super speed as he escaped the graveyard quickly and entered the Penitentiary where Lionel was being held without being seen.
