~ Trevor Troublemeyer |
Trevor Troublemeyer is the main deuteragonist from the YTV animated series Sidekick. He is the best friend of Eric Needles, who attends Sidekick Academy with him to someday become a superhero sidekick. However, he is also the son of Martin Troublemeyer, who is secretly Master XOX, a world-renowned supervillain who has him going to Sidekick Academy as an unwitting pawn, to take down the superhero industry from the inside out.
Unbeknownst to Trevor, having the DNA of XOX is causing him to have a sense of deep-rooted villainy, himself and every now and again, he will let his true colors slip out, either accidentally or intentionally, foreshadowing his inevitable descent into villainy.
He was voiced by Christian Potenza, who also voiced Chris McLean in the Total Drama franchise.
Biography[]
Trevor Troublemeyer was born to Martin Troublemeyer and an unknown mother, who is never present or mentioned in the series. He attends Sidekick Academy, with his friends, Eric Needles, Kitty Ko, and Vana Glama, where he's taught by Professor Pamplemoose and trained to someday become a superhero sidekick. Trevor is a huge slacker in school, regularly blowing off work, sleeping in class, and getting himself sent to detention. He spends most of his free time, going to Eric's house, The Maxum Mansion, to hang out and occasionally screw around in the Maxum Lair, playing with dangerous gadgets, and getting himself into even more trouble.
Unbeknownst to Trevor, his father is secretly Master XOX, the greatest supervillain in all of Splittsboro, who's secretly plotting to convert Trevor to villainy. He has Trevor attend Sidekick Academy so that he can learn all the secrets of the good side of town and take down the heroes from the inside.
Appearance[]
Trevor Troublemeyer is a 13-year-old boy without a defined chin or neck, making his head appear to be part of his torso. He has raven hair, white skin, and a long nose. Trevor wears a pickelhaube helmet, golden ear piercings, a dim green jacket, a blue undershirt with the roman numeral for "2" printed in black on it, purple pants, and black shoes.
Personality[]
Trevor Troublemeyer is an idiotic teenage slacker, who doesn't get good grades in Sidekick Academy, constantly flunking all of his classes and getting sent to detention. It's clear that Trevor doesn't care about being a superhero sidekick, as he doesn't find the glitz and glamour of being a protector of justice to be all that appealing. In "Trevor the Hero", Trevor accidentally saved Pamplemoose's life from a mountain lion and hated being hailed as a life-saver. He does, however, seem to take a huge liking to being a supervillain henchman, whenever the opportunity presents himself. Trevor gets along really well with villains such as Master XOX and when it comes to academic lessons in villainy, Trevor suddenly becomes a star student. Trevor has also demonstrated villainy and poor ethics outside of school, as well. Trevor has proven to be a selfish and undependable friend to Eric, occasionally insulting him, abandoning him, and screwing him over just to benefit himself. Trevor never really seems to receive any punishment for what he does, save for a few minor instances, and as such, lacks any remorse. In "Shopping Spree", Trevor even admits that he doesn't even know what "guilt" is. Trevor has also exhibited acts of overt villainy in episodes such as "Four's a Crowd", when he took on the role of XOX and destroyed the entire city, "Black Top, Dark Matter", where he lost his grasp on his sanity and turned into a Gollum-like creature, trying to steal and consume an orb of dark matter, and "Of Mice and Mel", where Trevor became a supervillain known as "The Troublemaker", who straight up killed Melvin Needles in a blast of thermonuclear energy.
Villainous Moments[]
- The Evil Trevor - Trevor's first villainous episode was one of the Funpak pilot shorts. In this episode, Trevor eats a hotdog made by Master XOX, which is made with a bunch of condensed dark matter. By eating it, Trevor turned evil and started to take on the form of Master XOX, himself.
- Maxum Man Mark 2 - Eric needed Trevor to stage a crime so that he could bait Captain Bicep Deathwish into acting like Maxum Man and saving the day. Trevor put on a burglar mask and went to rob Vana of all her makeup, which got him beaten senseless by the latter.
- Like Supervillain, Like Son - Trevor and Eric were assigned to do extracurriculars, talking care of the villains at the Magamatraz Max Security Prison. There, they met with world renowned supervillain, Master XOX, who Trevor idolized. During his visit, XOX would warm up to Trevor and try to groom him to help him build a mechanical device. Despite Eric's warnings that this was a bad idea, Trevor still ignored him and proceeded to follow XOX's orders. Trevor would help XOX by building his device, tormenting Eric just for fun, and also hacking into the prison's computer to release the locks on XOX's cell, helping him to escape. He would also lock Eric, Kitty, Vana, and Suzy Sweetie in the laundry room. Trevor would later don a supervillain henchman suit and assist XOX with his I-Cannon, which he'd use to take over the world. Eric, Kitty, and Vana eventually broke in to stop Trevor and XOX. Eric tried to talk Trevor out of being evil, telling him that although he clearly wants to take over the world, he shouldn't. Suzy Sweetie then danced up a hurricane cha-cha and XOX was on the brink of getting sucked in. Trevor claimed to have made up mind about who he wants to be and reached out to save XOX, only to detach the man's thumb and make him fall into the hurricane, proving that he had chosen good over evil.
- A Monster Headache - Trevor and Vana shared their deepest darkest secrets about themselves. Trevor admitted that sometimes, he thinks about building a giant bomb that would blow up the entire universe unless everyone in it gave him his eternal love and all of their candy. He then started cackling maniacally before stopping and realizing he had overshared. Vana swore to keep this a secret and forget the conversation ever happened, since she shared some embarrassing stuff that she didn't want to be put out there, as well.
- Days of Golly - Trevor was assigned by Eric to play the role of a villain for Golly Gee Kid to fight, so he dressed up in a devil costume and danced around like an idiot.
- Fart of Darkness - Trevor went to Thundershorts Sidekick Pre-Preschool led an army of Super Babies to war against Eric to keep the latter from graduating and going back to Sidekick Academy. Apparently, Trevor wanted to continue living the life of a baby so that he wouldn't have to do any work. Trevor was almost about to defeat Eirc until Kitty and Vana showed up and punished him for his misbehavior, the same way they would punish any rowdy baby.
- Eric Squared - Eric and Trevor met evil versions of themselves from an alternate dimension. Curiously, Evil Trevor looked almost completely identical to the "Good" Trevor. It wasn't until the end of the episode, that we learned Evil Trevor's one physical difference was he had a monstrous mouth under his hat.
- Halloweenie - Trevor went as XOXuman for Halloween, a portmanteau of XOX and Maxum Man, signifying his half-evil, half-good personality. When he got his costume's superpowers from Wardrobeman, Trevor got both Maxum Man's superpowers and XOX's evil genius, causing him to build destructive laser weapons to destroy stuff, only for the righteousness from his Maxum Man side to stop his evil side before he could have any real fun. Later in the episode, Trevor (as XOX) had tied himself (as Maxum Man) to a giant missile that he launched through the skies in an attempt to blow himself up.
- The Maxum Switcheroo - Eric and Trevor needed to stage a distress scene to test the legitimacy of the Maxum Man Impersonator. This involved Trevor using a wrecking ball to destroy a building and endanger a little girl, bust just as a fake. Trevor giggled mischievously and took enjoyment from doing this and even went too far, endangering the life of not just a little girl, but also Eric for real. Trevor also looked back on the day before him and enjoyed how he got to do partake in some life-threatening destruction today.
- Four's a Crowd - Trevor ate chunks of his own body and claimed that it tasted like evil. This would become even more obvious later in the episode, when he broke into XOX's lair and decided to put on his costume, "borrow" a few of his weapons, and completely take over the role of the town supervillain. Trevor would run rampant in Splittsboro, blowing things up with his evil powers and also attempting to destroy Eric, Kitty, and Vana in an ultimate death battle. This battle raged on until Trevor blew a massive crater in the middle of Splittsboro, destroying everything in the city.
- Super Frenemies - Trevor keeps getting Eric in trouble every time, which prompts Eric dump Trevor as his best friend. Later, when Eric tries to reconcile with Trevor, Trevor had already made a robot replica of Eric, which causes Eric to start a fight with Trevor. After an intense fight, Trevor and Eric reconcile after realizing that they shouldn't be fighting.
- Wrinkle Resistant - Trevor took an interest in the overtly evil plans that Xenior XOX was up to.
- Insane in the Cranial - At the end of the episode, Trevor was revealed to be part of a collegiate secret society called the Cranials, along with such other supervillains as Master XOX, Brute Brutal, Man Maid, Drilliam Shakespeare, and Arachni-Thumb.
- I, Sidebot - Trevor was one of the sidekicks who lost their jobs, thanks to the LOIDS all taking over. Now that he was no longer sidekicking, Trevor decided to take up being an evil henchman. He completely changed his appearance and started inventing a bunch of "Fun Day Devices", which were actually just doomsday devices but "fun". Whatever Trevor considered "fun" about these was never really clarified as all Trevor did was blow stuff up with them like with a normal doomsday device.
- Eric-o and Mandy-et - The heroes and villains of Splittsboro went to war with each other on their respective sides of town and two versions of Trevor showed up on both sides of the town. An interesting gag in this episode saw Maxum Man asking Eric if he knew where his "evil friend" was, referring to Mandy Struction but when he said this, the random pig showed up, holding a picture of Trevor in a devil suit, being Eric's other evil friend.
- Of Mice and Mel - Eric and Trevor needed to stage a villainous endeavor to Mouse Boy to stop so that he could prove that he was worthy of being a sidekick to Melvin Needles. Eric had Trevor play the role of the villain and the latter initially joked that evil wasn't really his thing, before they both had a good laugh and Trevor proceeded to be a villain. Trevor played the role of a supervillain named "The Troublemaker" and got way too into character as this villain, very quickly burning down several buildings and wreaking havoc and terror all around Splittsboro. He also unleashed a blast of energy onto Melvin, completely obliterating him into black dust, thereby killing him entirely.
- Black Top, Dark Matter - Trevor assisted Eric on his journey to help dispose of an orb of dark matter into Mt. Maxuvius, while XOX and Brute Brutal chased them down to try and steal it from them, plotting to use it for its villainous energy. During their great chase, Trevor kept obsessing over this orb of dark matter and attempted to steal it from Eric, under the guise that he was gunna try and help him keep it safe from the villains. However, in Trevor's case, he was trying to steal it so he could eat it. Whenever Trevor got close to the dark matter, he started to get crazy in his eyes, his hair started to go out of place, and his teeth became more jacked up, all making him start to resemble XOX. It can be assessed that Trevor was trying to eat the dark matter, so that he could obtain its villainous powers, similar to the dark matter hot dog from the Punpak pilot episode.
- Oh Trevor, Where Art Thou? - Trevor got lost in Mt. Maxuvius and became the leader of the Rock People. He led these Rock People in a conquest to take over the world. However, his plans were stopped when Eric, Kitty, Vana, and Mandy came in to rescue him. Trevor refused to leave his post, at least not without his wife, the Rock Queen, who became his girlfriend later on.
- A XOX for Good - Evil Trevor from the alternate dimension showed up again and just like before, he looked and behaved exactly like "Good" Trevor, proving that there really is no difference between the two.
- Walter Ego Presents: Vapo House - Kitty bluntly refers to Trevor as her "half evil" friend.
- Graduation Daze - When graduating from Sidekick Academy, Trevor is assigned to be the sidekick of a hero named "Not E-Vile Guy", who was clearly just XOX in disguise, implying that ultimately, Trevor did join the side of evil, just falsely believing that he was being good, while doing so. Trevor overheard XOX plotting to take down the superheroes from the inside and instead of calling him out on it, he agreed with his plans and proved a desire to do the same thing, himself.
Trivia[]
- The last name "Troublemeyer" is a pun on "Troublemaker", which is what he is.
- A running gag is for Trevor to usually pretend to be a bad guy, when he and Eric pull off a hair-brained scheme and have to stage a crime scene. This was demonstrated in "Maxum Man Mark 2", "Days of Golly", "The Maxum Switcheroo", and "Of Mice and Mel".
- This was lampshaded in "Of Mice and Mel", Trevor joked that being a bad guy wasn't really in his nature and he worried he wouldn't be able to pull this off, before he and Eric had a good laugh at the absurd statement.
