The Triggercons are a group of antagonists in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. They were originally released in 1988.
History[]
The Triggercons made their first appearance in Issue #48 of the Marvel US comic. Ratbat and Starscream viewed a recording of an incident millions of years earlier on Cybertron, where the three Triggercons accompanied Megatron as he followed Optimus Prime and the Triggerbots into the region of Boltax where the Underbase was located. They attacked and killed the Disciples of Boltax, with Optimus Prime launching the Underbase into space.
Their first present-day appearance came during the Marvel UK storyline "The Rise and Fall of the Decepticon Empire". The Triggercons, like most of the Decepticons on Cybertron, were under the command of the hedonistic Triumvirate, who were only interested in their gladiatorial games. When Megatron arrived and tried to convince the Decepticons to follow him in war on the Autobots again, the Triumvirate aimed to kill him but were gunned down by the Triggercons, who accepted Megatron as their leader.
They next appeared in "Rage", where the Triggercons, accompanied by Flamefeather and Quake, were sent to Earth to locate the missing Decepticon leadership candidate Thunderwing. They ended up being commanded by Thunderwing to join him in an attack on the Ark but retreated when faced with overwhelming Autobot odds.
This was the last time they were seen together as a group but they contained to make appearances separately. Ruckus and Windsweeper were part of Thunderwing's crew when he searched for the Creation Matrix, while Crankcase was one of Bludgeon's troops in the latter issues of the comic.
