The Trio are minor antagonists from the game Max Payne. The Trio are the three famous hitmens and Angelo Punchinello's famous bodyguards, they're also the most fearless and cruel of the Punchinello crime family.

History[]
According to Max Payne, The Trio was formed by three mobsters: Vince Mugiano, Pilate Providence (Also Known As: "Big Brother") and Joe "Deadpan" Salem. The Trio are known to be sadistic, merciless and even show cruelty, they always take orders from Punchinello, and are also the most dangerous.
The NYPD never wanted to arrest the Trio because of their brutal killings and they were called "Mad Dogs", precisely because they hang the decapitated heads of their enemies over the gates of Punchinello's mansion. When Jack Lupino, the underboss of Punchinello crime family and Vinnie Gognitti's right-hand-man, completely lost his sanity due to the use of the drug Valkyr, Angelo Punchinello sent a letter to Jack, threatening to send the Trio to kill Jack. However, Jack never cared about his boss's threat.
Max Payne[]
During the search for Jack Lupino, Max found a torn letter on the couch in Lupino's sanctuary, in which Angelo Punchinello threatened Jack in writing, and he also fears sending the Trio to do something for Lupino. When Max was drugged by Mona Sax, and taken back to Jack Lupino's basement after being tortured by Frankie Niagara, Max reenters the hotel and overhears a conversation from a mobster on the phone saying that the Trio is torturing a "poor bastard." downstairs", and that she could take a long time to die, Max believes he is referring to Mona.
After killing Niagara, Max escapes from the hotel and is found by Vladimir Lem, leader of the Russian mafia who gives him an offer to kill Boris Dime, who betrayed Vlad to Punchinello. As soon as he finishes Vlad's work, Max leaves for Punchinello's restaurant, but it was actually a trap. Max manages to escape, and meets Vladimir in his Mercedes Benz, and takes Max to Punchinello's mansion, where Angelo and the Trio are.
The Death of the Trio[]
Vladimir Lem leaves Max at the Punchinello mansion, and as soon as Max enters the basement, he notices some of Angelo's guards in the basement, possibly killed by Mona. Max manages to find the Trio, first he finds Pilate Providence who is in the dining room, and he manages to kill Providence. And as soon as Max passes through the corridors, he goes upstairs, where he finds Joe Salem and manages to kill him, Max passes through the bathroom where he finds Angelo's wife, Lisa Punchinello who was killed by Angelo, this gave a trigger in Max remembering his dead family. As he sets out to find the last of the Trio, he receives a call from Alfred Woden, alerting Max that an armed helicopter has just landed on the mansion's grounds. Max finally finds Vince Mugiano, and defeats Vince, putting an end to the Trio, and he enters Angelo's office, where he is asking for help on the phone, and is surprised by Max, but Angelo ends up being killed by Nicole Horne's henchmen.

The Trio is known for being the most sadistic, cold-blooded, calculating and even the most cruel of the Punchinello family. Angelo sees them as his most famous and beloved henchmen in the Punchinello family. And they are also known for being fearless, capable of killing without thinking twice. If anyone mentions the Trio, anyone could be terrified, including members of the Punchinello family.

Vince Mugiano: Vince is a white man with, a clean face, brown hair, wears a stylish black suit and a gold tie clip.
Pilate Providence (AKA "Big Brother"): He is a black man, has a goatee, thinning hair, earrings in his ears, he wears a gray suit and a cross tie.
Joe "Deadpan" Salem: Joe is a white man, wears a white suit, and a dark shirt and dress pants and also, Joe has a Van Dyke style beard.

- Pilate Providence is the only African-American mobster in the Punchinello family, even though the Punchinello family is made up of Italian-Americans.
- The Trio uses different types of firearms.
- Vince Mugiano uses a sawed-off double-barreled shotgun, Pilate uses a Desert Eagle and while Joe Salem uses two Cobray M11s.
