Triple Threat Triad
Since you're obviously fresh off the boat, let me explain a couple things. You're in Triple Threat Triad territory, and we're about to put you in the hospital.
~ Viper intimidating Korra in "Welcome to Republic City".

The Triple Threat Triad are minor antagonists in the animated series Legend of Korra and the secondary antagonists of the comic trilogy Turf Wars. They are a group of gang members that operate in Republic City, along with the Red Monsoons and Agni Kai triads, and are lead by Lightning Bolt Zolt.

After the end of the Anti-Bending Revolution, Zolt stood down as leader due to his bending loss and was replaced by Viper, the waterbending member first seen in the series.

The group primarily consists of males and is open to a wide variety of earthbenders, firebenders, and waterbenders. The gangsters use their bending abilities to run a protection racket on the citizens of Republic City.

History

When the trio made a routine visit to a phonograph shop to collect money from the owner, Mr. Chung, the vendor informed them that business had been slow that week, and he could not pay what he owed. One of the gangsters threatened that he couldn't protect the shop if he didn't receive his money. Frightened, the owner offered a free phonograph to compensate for the money, but the gang did not accept. They destroyed the phonograph, and only threatened him again.

When Korra intervened, the gangsters initially did not know of her identity as the Avatar and simply mocked her, declaring that they were about to put her "in the hospital". In response, the Avatar returned the threat, and a fight ensued. After being easily defeated one by one, the Triad members attempted to escape in their car, only to have the vehicle flipped by Korra's earthbending. They were then apprehended by the metalbender cops as soon as they arrived.

One of their members, Shady Shin, confronted Bolin on the streets to ask if he could temporarily recruit him for security purposes due to the recent turf wars among several gang triads, offering him money to pay for his financial debt. Bolin agreed.

This would be a terrible mistake, as the Equalists would later capture some of the gang members, including Zolt himself, to be used during "The Revelation", where they would be delivered to Amon for their bending to be removed. Zolt struck the first blow, along with Shady Shin, and a few others gangsters. Bolin would be last, but was eventually saved by Korra and Mako.

In Book 2, Viper lead the triad.

In the comic Turf Wars, Tokuga assassinated Viper and become their leader, leading the Triple Threats in a direct conflict with the Metalbending police and Republic City itself.
