Biography[]

Season 6[]

In the episode "I'll Remember," Tripp is seen jogging with the community protection squad he founded, which includes Matt Donovan. After Monique (using the alias Sarah) is attacked by Elena, Tripp becomes insistent on finding out who or what attacked her, suggesting his knowledge of vampires. He even confronts Sheriff Forbes, claiming she is not properly doing her job.

In "Yellow Ledbetter," Tripp mentions to Matt that he is searching for Sarah and appears to trust him. By the end of the episode, Tripp reveals he is a member of the Fell Family and one of the Founding Families of Mystic Falls. Although he doesn't confess it to Matt, it is revealed that Tripp is aware of vampires and the properties of the Travelers' Magic Purification Spell that covers Mystic Falls. He is seen driving captured vampires across the border to kill them.

In "Welcome to Paradise," Tripp is shown washing dark red stains out of his van with fellow community protection squad member Jay. When Matt asks about it, Tripp claims it's from red mulch used to clean up a playground, unaware that it is actually the bloody remains of the vampires he killed in the previous episode with the anti-magic border. When Matt informs Tripp about a party at the swimming hole, Tripp encourages him to bring Jay along. Later that evening, Tripp, alerted to the presence of a vampire when a local waitress is killed, stakes out a nearby diner and captures the waitress' killer, Enzo, with Stefan's assistance. Despite Stefan being prepared to finish Enzo off, Tripp admits to having a specific way he prefers vampires to die, and Stefan allows him to take Enzo.

In the episode "Black Hole Sun," Tripp informs Jay's parents about their son's death and later meets with Matt to discuss the incident. Tripp reveals that he and Sheriff Forbes have a strained relationship due to their high school rivalry. Tripp also shares that his wife died in a car accident, and he left Mystic Falls to escape the memories. Matt reveals that Jay mentioned tracking a vampire before his death, and Tripp takes Matt to a cabin where he shows him that Enzo, a vampire, is chained up. Tripp explains that vampires are real and have the ability to alter memories.

In "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here," Tripp contacts Stefan about Enzo and his vampire friends. He encounters Ivy, who appears injured, but she tries to attack him. Tripp shoots her with a vervain dart and takes her captive. Later, he drives a van with captured vampires across the border to Mystic Falls, killing them. Tripp then encounters Damon but is wounded and captured by two other individuals.

In "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get," Tripp has Ivy and other vampires in his van. He crosses the border to Mystic Falls and kills the vampires. He visits Caroline's dorm, mistaking her for Ivy, but Damon intervenes. However, two individuals capture Damon. Tripp continues driving his van towards the Mystic Falls border, but Alaric's car blocks his path. After a confrontation, Tripp crashes his van and flees towards Mystic Falls.

In "Do You Remember the First Time?," Matt captures Tripp and interrogates him. Enzo and Stefan join the questioning, seeking information about other vampire hunters. Tripp reveals that they know about Caroline. Enzo feeds Tripp his blood and kills him. Enzo brings Tripp's body to the Mystic Falls border, where he dies as he crosses it.

Personality[]

Tripp was portrayed as a handsome, strong, and disciplined individual. He served as the leader of a community militia and acted as a surrogate father to the young members under his guidance. Tripp was fiercely dedicated to protecting his town and was willing to go to great lengths to fulfill that duty. He proved to be a formidable adversary to Sheriff Forbes in safeguarding Mystic Falls until his eventual demise.
