~ The Troll's "Troll Toll" song |
The Troll is a character created by Charlie Kelly in the FX sitcom series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, serving as the secondary antagonist of his musical "The Nightman Cometh". He's a greedy troll who enslaves the "little boy" and lets the Nightman get into "his soul" (which Frank mispronounces as "hole", making it look like he's going to get raped).
In the musical, he was played by Frank Reynolds, who is portrayed by Danny DeVito who also portrayed Harry Wormwood in Matilda, The Penguin in Batman Returns, Bobby Ciaro in Hoffa, Burke Bennett in Death to Smoochy, Sam Stone in Ruthless People, Mr. Swackhammer in Space Jam, and Satan in Little Demon.

Trivia[]
- In the episode "Thunder Gun Express", Frank makes a reference to his role as the Troll while pretending to be a tourist guide, and even sings the Troll Toll song to them.
- According to the theory that suggests that the musical might be a metaphorical depiction of Jack Kelly's sexual abuse on Charlie when he was a kid, the Troll is a representation of Charlie's mother, Bonnie, who rented his room to Jack (represented by the "Troll Toll"), inadvertedly leading to him molesting Charlie.
- In the live stageplay of "The Nightman Cometh", the Troll and the Little Boy get one extra song in the beginning called "I've Got a Troll in my Hole" that details their relationship where the boy is forced to scratch the Troll's toes.
