The Trolls (獣鬼) are minor antagonists in Berserk.
They are a villainous race of ape-like creatures that eat, kill and rape humans. They used to live only in the Astral world, having been created by humanities collective unconscious fear of mysterious creatures, but after the God Hand member Slan manifested the astral region of Qliphoth into the normal plane, the Trolls started to appear in the human world causing havoc and chaos.
Appearance[]
The Trolls mainly resemble monkeys with their anthropomorphic bodies that are layered in dark fur along with having large hands and feet. One of the most noticeable aspects to their appearance is their large snouts resembling that of rodents and ground moles. On the snouts numerous small and fleshy extensions can be seen, which probably work like feeling sensors.
Personality[]
The Trolls are extremely animalistic and primal creatures that are portraited by their hedonistic behavior, they eat, kill and rape whenever they want.
Despite their evil nature, it is ironically caused by humans themselves, having been created by humanities collective fear of woodland creatures. Meaning that the trolls are that way because humanity perceived them that way, even before they came to the human world.
Physiology[]
The body of trolls despite being rather small and stocky are capable of large amount of strength, easily overpowering a full grown adult when they are in a large group (which they always are).
Even tough their bodies are created in the Astral world they are still made from flesh and blood, meaning that they are still capable of dying from simple offensive weapons, Spears, swords, daggers and even basic farm equipment are able to kill them.
Their ape-like bodies also make them very agile, they quickly climb buildings and tough their way of fighting lacks a clear style, they make up for it from their fast-pace attacks.
They are all reclusively male, creating new trolls from mating with human women, when a troll impregnates a woman multiple troll embryos quickly develop in her womb, after a short amount of time the baby trolls then burst out of the woman's womb killing her.
It is unknown how fast trolls become mature, but considering how fast they are capable of constantly raiding villages it is assumed to be very fast.

After Griffith is manifested into the physical plane, the astral and physical world become uneven very slowly combining into one. God Hand member Slan used this to her advantage, going into the Astral world and manifesting the realm of Qliphoth linking the astral world straight to the physical causing numerous dark creatures to appear, including Trolls.

- The way how the trolls are born has a large resemblance to the Xenomorphs from the Alien-franchise.
