Troy Calypso is one of the two main antagonists of Borderlands 3. The only known male Siren in history, he and his twin sister Tyreen form the fanatical cult known as the Children of The Vault to unite the bandits on Pandora and use them as their fanatical followers in their hunt for The Great Vault.
He was voiced by Max Mittelman.
Biography[]
Troy was born as a conjoined twin to his sister Tyreen, but due to his Siren powers, endangered both as he was parasitic to her. The son of Typhon and Leda DeLeon, their mother passed away shortly after they were born, leaving their father to raise the twins on the alien world of Nekrotafeyo alone. While Typhon did his best to be a good father, being stuck on such a remote and hostile world lead to the twins dreaming of exploring the stars above, and upon learning of the Vaults, the stories of his adventures and discoveries began to implant a dark desire within his children.
Troy and Tyreen eventually left Nekrotafeyo and arrived on Pandora, where together they managed to bring all the warring Bandit clans together under a single banner, that being the Children of The Vault, a cult of insane killers and mindlessly devout. The Calypso Twins used this cult to begin spreading their reach to other planets, hunting Vault monsters and absorbing their powers in their crusade to become gods.
While The Great Vault was eventually both found and opened, Troy died buying time for his sister to do so.
Personality[]
While just as vicious and brutal as his sister, Troy was nonetheless the more reserved of the two. He did not speak as much as her at first, implying that there was some kind of submission towards her, Troy eventually became much more talkative and even entered a highly competitive rivalry with Tyreen using their followers as fodder to prove themselves as the better leader. Troy would increasingly butt heads with Tyreen as time went on, but his loyalty to her, and their cause, remained absolute.
Troy was a completely remorseless psychopathic mass murderer. While he did not gain a dark pleasure from his heinous actions, he still found the suffering he and his sister brought about to be wholly entertaining, and was incredibly arrogant and cocky, with all of his traits being greatly amplified after he stole the powers from the Siren Maya. Troy and Tyreen firmly believed themselves to be living gods, and demanded to be treated as such by their followers.
Troy treated life, and everything in it, like a game, with his highly carefree attitude adding a strange juxtapose to the horrificness of his cruelty and malice.
Powers and Abilities[]
Phaseleech[]
As a Siren, he had a power unique to himself, which was called Phaseleech, however, as he as born a conjoined twin, his sister also shared this power, and as a result his own power was stunted. This allowed Troy to parasitically drain the life and powers from his victims, even allowing him to steal another siren's power.
Phaselock[]
After Phaseleeching Maya, Troy gained her siren ability Phaselock, allowing him to manipulate space to immobilize both people and objects. It also granted him the ability to infuse others with Eridium, turning them into what he called his Annointed.
Trivia[]
- Troy is the only known male Siren in Borderlands history.
- While making an alliance with her, Troy entered a sexual relationship with Aurelia Hammerlock.
