Troy Perkins is a minor antagonist in the 1985 film The Goonies.
He was portrayed by Steve Antin.
Biography[]
Troy Perkins was first seen driving in his Ford Mustang with Andrea Theresa "Andy" Carmichael and Stephanie "Stef" Steinbrenner. Brandon "Brand" Walsh was riding a kid’s tricycle trying to catch up with his brother and his friends, when he encountered the three. Andy offered Brand a ride, he declined but Troy decided to give him one anyway. Except, he held onto Brand’s hand, then drove despite Andy and Stef telling him to stop. Brand ended up crashing off a cliff.
He and two friends go to hang out at the Moss Garden Wishing Well, where he joked about a blooming relationship with Andy. When he flips a coin down into the well and it flips back up into his hands, he discovers Andy and the Goonies are down below. She begs him to reel a bucket down to save them, which he does. When it's pulled back up, however, he finds only his country club jacket attached to it. Andy had changed her mind and broke up with him. Dumbfounded, he screams at Andy calling her a Goonie. Later, he arrived at the Astoria Country Club and is blown off of a toilet from reverse pressure caused by the Goonies below, making him childishly call out to his father.
The following morning, he accompanies his father down to watch Irving Walsh sign off his house. Brand wanted to kick his butt after his mocking, but he was held back. However, the Walshs' housekeeper, Rosalita, managed to find some gems in Mikey’s marble bag. Troy is left dismayed as Irving rips up the foreclosure contract.
Trivia[]
- In a deleted scene, Troy bullies the Goonies in Stop 'N Snack and pretends to use their map as a cigar, even trying to light it on fire.
- Troy served as a major inspiration for quite a few characters in Stranger Things. Troy Walsh, another bully, was likely named after him along with the Walshes. In spite of this, Tommy Hagan, yet another unpleasant character, looks more like Troy Perkins in terms of appearance and age.
