Trudie Keyes is the secondary antagonist of the 9-1-1: Lone Star episode "Abandoned". She is the mother of Darryl Keyes, a serial killer of mentally ill women.
She was portrayed by Bonita Friedericy.
Biography[]
Past[]
She lived in Austin and was a housewife. She had one son Darryl Keyes, raising him alone after her husband, Darryl's father, left following the divorce. Despite her years of dotting on him, he was rebellious and often acted out.
When her son was older, he became a serial rapist/killer and Trudie was aware of his actions and was complying participant by offering him safety. Trudie would even help in the murders by hiding the bodies or giving Darryl his kit.
"Cry Wolf"[]
After Carlos found an underground tunnel in the closet, realizing how the abductor avoided the helicopter's line of sight. Carlos crossed the tunnel, until ending up in the Keyes' but got knocked out with a shovel by Trudie.
"Abandoned"[]
Trudie tied Carlos up, took his belongings such as his phone and wallet. She saw his texts from TK, before destroying his phone to prevent any searches for him.
The next day, she was baking cookies as Carlos regained consciousness and spotted a dead woman in the kitchen. Carlos was told of his situation of Trudie hitting him with a shovel, before she kindly gave him a cookie. Trudie then took a broom and casually swept the corpse back in the closet and questioned Carlos on a calling TK, believing it was a woman important to him and is told that was Carlos' fiancé.
When Darryl returns home, he finds an unexpected guest in the form of the tied-up Carlos. He learned of the break-in, before discovering Carlos' badge and telling his mother that he was a cop, who he recognizes as being present the other day when he saved Iris. At the same time, Carlos noticed from his face and arm burn that Darryl was the man from Iris' description. After sending his mother away to get the materials needed for his method, Darryl spoke to Carlos before Trudie came with the kit but they had little to kill Carlos but knocked him out
Later, APD searched the neighborhood, and TK Strand came to Trudie's house. Carlos saw his fiancé from the doorbell cam, while Trudie gagged him to keep quiet and took a knife with her. She spoke to TK (while hiding the knife) about the search for his missing fiancé, showing her a picture of Carlos. Trudie subtly picked up that he was the TK that called and after complimenting his looks, she claimed she didn't see him. Trudie also passed off Carlos' protesting noise, as her pet cat Whiskers acting up and politely sends TK off. Once returning to Carlos, she notes on being surprised he was actually gay and admits she wishes Darryl was too because he could never find a woman who loved him.
After a good talk, she starts to release Carlos just as her son returns and questions this. Carlos attacks Darryl and leaves his face covered in burns from boiling water, but Trudie injects him with drugs. Carlos looked at Trudie, who said Darryl was her boy. Fortunately, a struggle leads to TK and Gabriel Reyes (Carlos' father) hearing commotion and rushing into find Carlos unconscious. After subduing the Keyes family, they are able to treat Carlos who is able to survive and see his family.
Trudie is charged as an accessory to murder, imprisoned for life along with her son.
