Tsuchigumo is the spider-themed Minor Youkai of the Youkai Army Corps, serving Gashadokuro and a minor antagonist in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, appearing as the main antagonist of the 19th episode.
He was played and voiced by Fujio Mori.
Biography[]
Past[]
Tsuchigumo first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of thier kind; Daimaou. Six thousand years ago, Tsuchigumo was among the army of Yokai who attacked Ninjaman whilst he defended a village. Tsuchigumo was evidently able to escape alive but Ninjaman was banished by the Three God Generals as he slaughtered his entire village after mistaking them for Yokai.
Tsuchigumo was ultimately among the Yokai who managed to avoid being sealed behind the Seal Door by the Ancient Kakurangers but was reduced to a human form when the Yo Power was sealed with Daimaou.
Kakuranger[]
By 1994, Tsuchigumo has evolved into a more human-like form by the time that the Yo Power is released by Kappa. By this time, he has taken up a job as a village mechanic and uses an underground cave beneath his workshop as his hideout.
Tsuchigumo is soon employed by Junior to capture humans and turn them into sausages for the Youkai to eat. Tsuchigumo is first seen in his spider form when he ambushes and captures a human couple driving in a tunnel before driving them away in a recovery lorry as the Kakurangers (having been flagged down by a boy who saw the attack) watch on. They track him down to his workshop but he quickly realises they are there and calls Junior. He later ambushes Seikai when he, Sasuke and Jiraya investigate later that night, capturing Seikai easily. Sasuke and Jiraya hear the cries so Tsuchigumo reveals his true form and overwhelms them before escaping after punching them down. As the Kakurangers regroup, he then kidnaps the boy who first alerted the Kakurangers and takes them back to his garage as the other four Kakurangers watch. When they try to pursue in Nekomaru, Tsuchigumo stops Nekomaru with webbing and makes his escape as they try to clear it off.
The next day, Junior meets with Tsuchigumo who happily proclaims his success before they lure the remaining Kakurangers (sans Sasuke who is suspicious that it's a trao) into a trapdoor into Tsuchigumo's underground lair. Using his spider form and the shadows to hide, Tsuchigumo is able to surprise and very easily defeat them before trapping Saizou and Jiraya in webbing. Although Tsuchigumo then easily defeats Tsuruhime, an enraged Seikai is able to morph without his Doron Changer and beat-down the Youkai before defeating him with his Triple Slash. Enraged, Tsuchigumo enlarges himself up through the ground which destroys his lair and he blasts Sasuke who waits above ground. He is unhurt and the Kakurangers summon the Beast General Fighters with Battle Simidar. Though he is unfazed, Tsuchigumo is then punched back by Battle Kark and Battle Logan and defeated by kicks from Battle Kumard and Battle Gammer. Although Tsuchigumo recovers, this allows the Kakurangers to summon Muteki Shogun. Tsuchigumo charges but is immediately killed by the Blazing Shogun Sword.
Tsuchigumo is recalled by The Announcer whilst recapping the Kakurangers' war against the Yokai during his feature on the Kakurangers.
Tsuchigumo is seen, along with all the other defeated Yokai, behind the Seal Door after Daimaou is finally sealed away by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity. He is also remembered by Seikai as having fought her as he leaves in Nekomaru to inform the world of how to stop the Youkai from returning.
Personality[]
Tsuchigumo kept up the appearance of a kindly good Samaritan in his human form but was a violent and psychopathic monster who wanted to use human as food.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Tsuchigumo was able to stab his pincers through the roof of a car with single jabs and take the car door off with a single slap. He could also wrap his pincers around Saizou's neck and flip him head over heels.
- Durability: Tsuuchigumo survived Seikai's Triple Slash without a scratch and being punched back by Battle Logan and Battle Kark didn't hurt him.
- Longevity: Tsuchigumo survived for at least six thousand years with no side effects.
- Energy Streak Strike: Tsuchigumo could turn into yellow streaks to rapidly strike a couple's car.
- Human Form: Tsuchigumo could assume the form of a middle aged man by fading in and out of existence.
- Spider Transformation: Tsuchigumo could turn into a small silver spider at will to sneak up on his victims.
- Web Spray: In both his human and true forms, Tsuchigumo could fire sprays of white webs from his mouth capable of capturing anyone.
- Web Waves: When he attacked the car in the tunnel, Tsuchigumo covered it in massive orange webs fired from an unknown place.
- Sausage Transformation: According to Tsuchigumo, his webbing would turn his victims into sausages over time.

- Agility: Tsuchigumo was able to bounce off of the walls and strike through his enemies with ease. He could also back-flip quickly enough to dodge a shot from Jiraya's KakuLaser.
- Reflexes: Tsuchigumo could react fast enough to duck Saizou's Kakuremaru.
- Yokai Lightning Cloud Summoning: Tsuchigumo was able to summon the Yokai Lightning Cloud to enlarge himself with its Yo Power.
- Eye Beams: Tsuchigumo could fire red-black energy beams from his eyes. These caused a massive explosion and sent Sasuke flying with one hit.

- Pincers: Tsuchigumo had no weapons of his own but had razor sharp spider pincers on the back of his wrists to use in combat.
- Fists: Tsuchigumo also had fists under his pincers that he could swing hard enough to smash windows with single hits.
