Tyler Jefferies is a fictional character and supporting antagonist of the British soap opera Coronation Street. He appeared as a major antagonist in 2018 and as an anti-hero in 2019.

In his storyline, Tyler was the leader of a gang whom established character Simon Barlow got involved with in 2018; Tyler would cause trouble for Simon to the point of forcing him to stay with the gang under the threat of further harm. Soon afterwards, Tyler became romantically involved with Simon's cousin Amy Barlow; she later got pregnant with his child but had an abortion and their relationship ended. Thereafter Tyler supported his mother Vicki through a love triangle with Robert Preston, the father of her unborn child, and his wife Michelle Connor up until the mother and son departed at the end of 2019.

The character was portrayed by Will Barnett.

History

Tyler Jefferies was born in 2002 as the son of Jed Moss and Vicki Jefferies. Over a decade later, he became the leader of a gang that would cause trouble for the residents of Coronation Street in Weatherfield.

In 2018, Tyler encountered young resident Simon Barlow and they began to spend time together. Soon Tyler introduced him to the gang, and it would then their negative influence began to affect Simon to the point where he got involved with the gang's petty criminal activities. As time went on, Tyler and his gang began to cause havoc to the stage where Simon joined in with them. Eventually, though, Simon began to have doubts and it was then Tyler resolved to keeping him in line at all costs.

Soon Simon's parents, Peter Barlow and Leanne Battersby, discovered their son's involvement with the gang and forced him to report them to the police; however, Simon protected the gang by telling the police "no comment" in every question. Later on, though, Tyler found out what happened and threatened Simon in the backyard. Tyler and his gang continued to pressure Simon until they attempted to kidnap him, but were foiled by Simon's stepmother Carla Connor when she intervened and forced the gang to leave. They later reappeared and Tyler brandished a gun, shooting Peter in a drive-by-shooting incident before fleeing. However, it turned out to be a paintgun as Tyler wanted to further indimidate Simon. But this proved to be his undoing when Simon eventually agreed to tell the police everything; Tyler and his gang would later get arrested for their crimes.

In 2019, Tyler reappears on the street and is met with hostility. It soon turns out that Tyler is having a relationship with Simon's cousin, Amy Barlow, and she is pregnant with his baby; everyone is unhappy with the revelation, particularly Amy's parents Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow as they were put up to speed with what Tyler has been doing to Simon for months. But it soon became clear that Tyler is a reformed character who wants to change his ways by romancing with Amy. However, their relationship ends when Tyler finds out that Amy had an abortion because she didn't want to have a baby in the end.

For the next few months, Tyler settles on the street with his mother Vicki as she begins working for Carla at The Underworld Factory. He soon defends her mother from Tracy's ex-husband, Robert Preston, after it emerges that they are having an affair behind the back of Robert's wife Michelle and that he got Vicki pregnant as well. Tyler later supports Vicki when Robert dies after being accidentally shot by Derek Milligan, a businessman who was killed that same night while trying to murder his employer Gary Windass for blackmailing him. Afterwards and with Vicki having given birth to her and Robert's son, Sonny, it was decided by her to leave the street and Tyler joined her; they departed after Christmas 2019.
