U is a minor antagonist in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. She is the Consul of Colony Tau.
Appearance[]
U has red eyes and wears red armor. Her helmet is relatively flat with a circular face plate surrounded by a red "frill".
Biography[]
Little is known about U's origins, although she serves as the Consul assigned to Colony Tau, an isolated colony hidden within the High Maktha Wildwood. Due to its location and only obtaining life essence to the Flame Clock by fighting nearby monsters, she rarely visits the colony. U appears to have a high trust in the commander Juniper, referring to them as "Junebug".
During Juniper's ascension quest, U makes her appearance having defeated a pack of Volffs that invaded the colony for its few food. Her attitude initially comes off as almost admirable, as she seems kind to the people of Colony Tau and shows no apparent hostility towards Ouroboros. She also claims to be an individualist, not resenting the destruction of the Flame Clock since it was "the people's choice".
She requests the party to gather a certain type of leaf so they could build a bonfire and use the leaves' aroma to lure the monsters away. The team, though initially suspicious at the request of a Consul, do as they are told at the further request of the people of Colony Tau, although they are concerned as to why the Consul would reveal herself now of all times.
With the leaves, U has a bonfire built in the center of the colony, insisting that the smoke will drive away all the nasty bugs she dislikes. But U also places the plants in as well, attracting a hoard of monsters. U walks away, insisting that she was going to watch some "Ouroboros magic" for herself.
Both U's friendly façade and her scheme to drive away the monsters were both revealed to be massive farces, as, outside of the colony, the Ouroboros fight off a hoard of Rhinons, monsters that were normally not from the forest. During the fight, U instructs Juniper to ensure that the colony fight to their best effort until they agonize and die. This makes Juniper realize that the "nuisances" U previously mentioned weren't the monsters, but the people of Tau. U taunts the group to keep up the hustle or they'll become a quick meal. Taion orders two soldiers to put out the fire, but U informs them that it was already too late. She reveals that she intentionally summoned the monsters to Tau with the intention of slaughtering everyone minus Juniper for the next growth in the forest.
Once the monsters are dealt with and the fire is put out, the heroes turn against U. She proceeds to continue her sadistic mocks, revealing that she intentionally chose the colony's isolated location so it would drive its residents to despair. Additionally, she had soldiers killed when approaching their final term, and also designed and planted many hindering traditions and customs to further cut down their numbers. As Juniper expresses their rage, U admits to find thrills in wanting to battle them.
U transforms into her Moebius form and taunts the group that failing to stop her will result in her killing everyone in the colony. The team best her and is finished off once Juniper pierces an arrow straight into her chest. As she dies, U admits surprise in Juniper for glaring at her with the intentions to kill.
