Biography[]
Uli, along with twelve other terrorists of different nationalities led by Hans Gruber enter a building called Nakatomi Plaza in a Pacific Courier truck, then enter an elevator until they reach the 30th floor where they begin to hold approximately 30 people hostage, minus one cop named John McClane. Then, he and two other henchmen: Heinrich and Marco move missiles to the 35th floor roof access before secretly planting C-4 charges on the 35th floor in order to destroy the roof of the building.
Later, when McClane kills Tony, another terrorist, Uli is recalled back to the 30th floor to take his place. He later serves as sole guard for the hostages when Sergeant Al Powell from the LAPD shows up until Eddie, a terrorist posing as a guard, convinces him everything is fine. However, when the LAPD is eventually made full aware of the situation by McClane after tossing Marco's corpse on Sergeant Powell's car earlier at some point, both Uli and Eddie are assigned by Hans to simply wound the LAPD SWAT team trying to get into the building rather than kill them. In doing so, Uli seizes the opportunity to help himself to a Nestle Crunch bar from the food stand he's standing in.
Once Hans and his lieutenant, Karl have recovered the C-4 detonators previously stolen by McClane after shooting Heinrich earlier, Uli goes up to finish setting up the explosives on the roof before returning to the 30th floor. Eventually, Uli is present with Hans when they learn from an arrogant reporter, Richard Thornburg's interview of McClane's only daughter, Lucy that one of the hostages, Holly Gennero is actually the cop's wife, they take her as bait. Then, as instructed by Hans, Uli takes the rest of the hostages and locks them up on the roof where he planted the explosives earlier. Once finished, Uli makes his way down, only to suddenly find himself gunned down four times by McClane who later saves the hostages, thus, leaving Uli's corpse to be blown up on the roof afterwards.
