Umberto Robina is a major character in the 2002 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and its 2006 prequel Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. He is the leader of the Cuban Gang in Vice City's Little Havana district.
He was voiced by Danny Trejo, who also voiced Dollar Dragon in Crime Boss: Rockay City.
Biography[]
Umberto Robina was born to Alberto Robina and an unnamed mother. At some point in his life, he moved to the United States and settled in Vice City, Florida and formed a gang known as Los Cabrones, or simply the Cubans. He also did business with Marty Jay Williams and the Trailer Park Mafia until 1984.
In 1984, Umberto and his men are engaged in a war with the Cholos and hires Victor Vance to assist them in their fight. Victor even saves Umberto's father, Alberto, from a Cholos attack and delivering him to the Cuban leader's house. This would prove to beginning of the Cholos' downfall as Umberto sends Victor Vance and some men to rob their weapons warehouse and destroy it by using a bomb inside a pinata, driving the Cholos from Little Haiti. He later helps Vic and his brother Lance in their war against the Mendez Brothers after being contacted by the younger Vance brother.
Two years later, came in contact with a man named Leo Teal, but after trying to call him, he discovers that Teal was killed and his phone was taken by Forelli mobster Tommy Vercetti. Umberto instead hires Tommy to help him in a war against the Haitian Gang (which Tommy had sparked earlier on under Avery Carrington's orders). Robina later finds out that Tommy had been helping the Haitians as well but gives him a chance to prove his loyalty to him. After destroying the Haitian drug factory, Robina praises Tommy and sees him as an honorary Cuban.
