Umibozu is the Pig-themed Minor Youkai of the Youkai Army Corps, working under Gashadokuro. He is a the one responsible for the ritual that eventually released Daimaou and a minor antagonist in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, serving as the main antagonist of the 23rd episode.
He is voiced by Yoshio Kawai who previously voiced Skull Doggler in Hikari Sentai Maskman, Baboon Brain in Choju Sentai Liveman, Inugami Bohma and Dark Spider Bohma in Kosoku Sentai Turboranger, Torarugin, Galactic Ninja Batzlergin, Samejigokugin, Chamelezarugin and PteranoTelevigin in Chikyu Sentai Fiveman, Majin Mu in Chojin Sentai Jetman, Dora Skeleton, Dora Goblin, Dora Ladon and Dora Chimera in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Oonyuudou also in Kakuranger and later voices Bara Tarantula in Choriki Sentai Ohranger, Saboteur Mayden in Mirai Sentai Timeranger and Island Ninja Girigirigaishi in Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger.

Umibozu first came to be when humanity's negative emotions physically manifested and formed thier own group under the leadership of the most powerful of thier kind; Daimaou. One thousand years ago, Umibozu was among the army of Yokai who attacked Ninjaman whilst he defended a village. Umibozu was evidently able to escape alive but Ninjaman was banished by the Three God Generals as he slaughtered his entire village after mistaking them for Yokai.
Umibozu was ultimately among the Youkai who managed to avoid being sealed behind the Seal Door by the Ancient Kakurangers but was rendered powerless when the Yo Power was sealed with Daimaou.
Kakuranger[]
By 1994, Umibozu has evolved into a more humanoid form by the time that the Yo Power is released by Kappa.
Midway through the war against the Kakurangers, Gashadokuro is contacted by an angry Daimaou who demands to know why he hasn't been released yet. Junior thusly sends Umibozu to capture five children to invoke a ritual to bring Daimaou into the world that requires the sacrifice of fifteen children. Umibozu is first seen as a blue energy streak when he ambushes the Kakurangers, Keiko and Ryota outside of Nekomaru before kidnapping Ryota to use in the ritual. As the Kakurangers watch Ryota being petrified, Umibozu kidnaps another thirteen children and petrify which begins the ritual. Whilst Junior begins his concert, the Kakurangers go to stop him but are intercepted by Umibozu who reveals his mission even as Junior's music turns Reiko to stone. Enraged, they morph and fight Umibozu but he proves to be immune to thier Kakuremaru, multiple kicks from Sasuke, and he takes down the other Kakurangers with an anchor and throws bombs at Sasuke. Despite this, the Kakuranger is unfazed and hits Umibozu with his Red Slicer and defeats the Youkai with his Flaming Whirlwind attack.
Impressed, Umibozu decides not to hold back and grows giant so they form Muteki Shogun but Umibozu proves to be too powerful and even catches the Blazing Shogun Sword before knocking it back and ejecting the Kakurangers with his flame breath. Before he can revel in this victory however, a mysterious bird appears and disarms Umibozu with a laser barrage. Umibozu tries to destroy it with fire but it is unfazed and fuses with Muteki Shogun to form Super Muteki Shogun which kills Umibozu with the Muteki Cannon Full Discharge.
Umibozu is recalled by the Announcer whilst recapping the Kakurangers' war against the Yokai during his feature on the Kakurangers.
Umibozu is heard, along with all the other defeated Yokai, behind the Seal Door after Daimaou is finally sealed away by the Kakurangers. Reeling that they are now powerless in captivity, the Yokai all vow that they will one day be reborn and regain their power, cursing humanity.
Personality[]
Umibozu is an extremely sadistic and violent Youkai; completely loyal to Gashadokuro and willing to use children as sacrifices for his ceremony.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Strength: Umibozu was powerful enough to best all five Kakurangers in battle, knocking down Jiraya and Saizou with one throw of his anchor. When giant, he was able to block Muteki Shogun's Blazing Shogun Sword slash with one hand.
- Durability: Umibozu was immune to almost all attacks such as shrugging off being hit by all five Kakuremaru at once, Jiraya and Saizou's shuriken, multiple punches and kicks from Sasuke, a series of jump kicks right to his chest from Sasuke, and Tsubasamaru's lasers without a scratch.
- Longevity: Umibozu survived for at least six thousand years with no side effects.
- Energy Streak: Umibozu can turn into a blue energy streak to move around at incredible speed and strike down his enemies.
- Underwater Breathing: Umibozu can clearly breathe underwater since he is first seen as bubbles underwater.
- Instantaneous Teleportation: Umibozu can instantly teleport around the battlefield which he does to avoid a slash from both Tsuruhime and Seikai.
- Yokai Lightning Cloud Summoning: Umibozu is able to summon the Yokai Lightning Cloud to enlarge herself with its Yo Power.
- Fire Breath: Umibozu can spew orange flames from his mouth. These caused large explosions and instantly defeated Muteki Shogun but didn't faze Tsubasamaru.
Arsenal[]
- Sword: Umibozu carries a long sword to aid him in combat.
- Anchor: During his battle, Umibozu wielded a giant metal anchor which he could both throw hard enough to take down Jiraya and Saizou with one hit and swing to knock down Tsuruhime and Seikai.
- Water Bombs: Umibozu can extract sea mines from the plates on his shoulder and fling them forth to cause large explosions.
